Situated in the heart of the Punaauia region, Le Méridien Tahiti overlooks white sand beaches, calming blue waves, and commanding mountains. Papeete, the capital of Tahiti, is a cultural hub of the South Pacific, featuring colourful markets, distinguished art and history museums, and lush botanical gardens. The hotel offers four sophisticated meeting rooms, providing the largest conference and convention facilities in French Polynesia, diving expeditions, a sandy-bottomed swimming pool, and a fusion of French and Polynesian cuisines at Le Carré. Just minutes away from the celebrated sites of French Polynesia, Le Méridien Tahiti offers excursions to the Caves of Maraa, the Gauguin Museum, and the Seashell Museum. Glorious waterfalls form the core of expansive canyons at the heart of the island.

It was Paradise!

We stayed in an over the water bungalo...it was a living aquarium below us! The beautiful reefs, incredible fish, sharks, and even an octopus, combined with the islands inherit beauty our view and stay was incredible. The staff was friendly and helpful. We are gold members of their hotel group, so were allowed to check-in early and leave late. However, the hotel will allow anyone to do this for a fee. Restaurant was delicious.

Perfect relaxing holiday

If you truly want and need a relaxing holiday. This is the place. If your taking a holiday and want to run hard, then it is not the place to be. I talked to a few people that went on some of the snorkeling excursions and they all said that nothing could match the reefs at the Le Meridean

Unpayable meal

Everything is excellent in this hotel if you are not hungry because the breakfast and restaurant is unpayably expensive. You have to buy foods and drinks in a shop or to go to a pizzeria not far from the hotel.

Good, but not so much.

The staff are great, the room I had was basic but very confortable and spacious. The internet connection is absurdity. I payed U$93 for 72h and I could use only in 1 device. The location is good only if I don't want to go outside the hotel. It's far from everything and taxis are pretty expensive in Tahiti. You must rent a car.

The pizza place at the end of the hotel driveway was fairly priced. The hotel food choices were expensive.

Very nice location

We stayed 5 nights in one of the over water bungalows. The location was superb, right on the corals, allowing us to snorkel right under and around our cabin. The bungalow was very comfortable but, dated and somewhat worn. The decor appears 1970s European vintage and the maintenance was far from perfect. Our toilet failed to flush twice and continued to leak water for our full stay, despite two repair attempts. Altogether the stay was still enjoyable. The resort grounds are very nice and the pool was enjoyable. Be prepared that the hotel restaurants are very expensive for American pockets. Eating all your daily meals in them will cost you far in excess of your daily room rates.

The 3 restaurants outside of the resort are better deals, although still not inexpensive. There is a grocery store nearby, as well; their daily baked, always fresh French baguettes are a treat.

Honeymoon

Even though we had a wonderful honeymoon overall, we were not pleased at all with our particular hotel choice. We have travelled all over the world, including Belize, Grand Cayman, Bahamas, Riviera Maya, Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Virgin Islands, Cabo. We have stayed at some of the nicest hotels, many all inclusives, etc. We have never complained about a hotel before...until this one. We were placed in a section of the hotel that was in the process of being renovated. I understand that hotels need to be renovated from time to time, and am ok with that. But to literally place us in the middle of the renovation, to the point that rooms on either side of us, above us, and below us, were all being emptied out, was irresponsible and unacceptable. There were mattresses in the hallway, lights taken down, doors to all the rooms open, music blaring and workers inside dismantling the entire rooms, removing furniture, etc. It was the most irresponsible thing I've ever experienced. My husband took several pictures, and we are going to contact our attorney to see about some type of reimbursement. We were comped a nice dinner in the hotel, which was very good, and allowed a late check out. That is all. It was a nice gesture, but not enough. We had workers enter our room on 3 separate occasions, without knocking, and that is only the number that we were present and know about. These were hotel contruction workers who assumed our room was vacant, and came right in, only to see us sitting on the bed watching tv. They apologized, but it happened THREE times. This hotel has not heard the last of us. The only saving grace was that we were not in our hotel room all that much, as we were experiencing the beauty of the islands!
