Best Trip

We had a wonderful time, in large part to the assistance of the staff and hotel amenities. Everyone we met was very friendly and looked to our requests. The hotel was the furthest from the airport, but seemed the best located for any excursions. We spent one afternoon on a neighboring island, half a day on an ATV tour and also took in a Tiki dinner. All was booked and charged through the hotel, making payments and reservations easy. The best part is a local market across the street that you can grab breakfast, lunch, and drinks from that saves a ton of money on food. Quick note that the overwater bungalow is not truly an overwater bungalow, more of a deck that goes over the water. There are a couple premium overwater bungalows, which are different than the overwater bungalows (just a deck over the water).

Across the street is a wonderful market where you can eat that will save big compared to the costs of the food at the resort. If you want to splurge then eat at the resort, food is good, but expensive.

Super place to get away.

The Intercontinental Hotel on Moorea in French Polynesia is everything you are looking for in an exotic get away. The location is best described as perfect, the staff is friendly and helpful and the facilities are world class. It was the rainy season, but while that can mean lots of rain, for us it was a few hours of rain in otherwise perfect weather for 10 days. They have a dive center on site where one can learn to dive, get certified or just enjoy the local diving with a great team of divers and instructors. Water sports and option on, in and around the water include everything you can imagine from breakfast delivered to your room by outrigger to snorkeling, dolphin center and to hanging around the pool. Skip Tahiti and go straight to Moorea, you will be glad you did.

Great for honeymooners

The reception of each employee at the hotel is great, the concierge (Quintin and Paloma) give an excelent service in an out of the hotel. We strongly recomend the "premium over the water bungalow" since it is the one that has the best views.

Entertainment tip: Short walk from hotel

The scuba diving service is very good since the guide is almost exclusive (we were only 2 couples on the scuba trip). The food in and out of the hotel is not so good (across the island), and it is usually quite expensive (i.e a soda can is aprox. 4.5 usd); however you could buy the same one in a small market at a close distance for half the price). However although the food is not so good, the experience at the island in general gets our best rate for Moorea and the Intercontinental! We also recommend the Albert Tours, which Hinanui recommended us (Hinanui works at the small market shop right in front of the hotel). The experience of such tours are the same and are at a lower price than those offered by the Hotel. (with the exception of the Catamaran and the Scuba Diving), which are provided only by the hotel and are excelent. By the way, our guide on the Catamaran was great since he gave us a better explanation on the whales, dolphins and general overview than those offered by the tour on the waverunner (By Albert Tours). In other words both tours are practically the same (with the exception that on the wave runner you have the chance of going on a faster device, but not to worry since the Catamaran is excelent for touring). We also recommend visiting the island on October since on our last day raining started to play (locals told us that the best season is from May to October), and starting on November rain season takes place. Anyway, do not worry for the rain since on our last day we decided to enjoy the rain and it was pretty cool! (the rain is hot and it is tropical).
