The hotel Portalet is a small and charming 2star hotel, located in the historical center of Hyeres les Palmiers. It gives on a pedestrian place, with many shops in the lane. It is also the starting point for excursions like Porquerolles and the discovery of Provence. The port for private boats and its sheltered achorage makes Hyeres a first rate boating center. With all the equipment available and the presence of the French sailing team Hyeres is not about to relinquish its place as a boating port of international importance. Historic sites to see: Commandrie des Templiers, Collegiate St. Paul, St. Louis Church. Hotel providing the amenities like non-smoking rooms, pet allowed: 5euros per day and reception. Additional information: Breakfast: 7euros from 7.15am to 11.00am and City tax: 0.90euros per person and per night.

cold water thrown on short break

Portalet hotel is well situated in Hyeres. The taxi can get you quite close (if it goes to the correct old gate - which ours did not). The facilities are basic (no lift, no breakfast staff etc. The room was not ready for the 3pm check-in. Our worst feature was no hot water at all for our two night stay. Action was promised but did not happen whilst no apology was forthcoming at any stage. We left as unnoticed as we had arrived!

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

Good range of restaurants within a few steps. Old town provides good walks and sights. Bus station and train station with connections to other parts of south coast (Cannes, Toulon). Lovely natural areas nearby.
