perfect location on the heart of paris

the hotel as much os them is an antique building, but well kept,it is perfect for travelers hungry to see the city and the history,it is not a hilton on new york full of pools or restaurants,it is cozy place located just a few steps of metro station Pernety, all city is connected by trains, pretty easy to get to any place and so cheap by metro , please do not take taxi if you dont want to waste your money, the bakery is accross the street with wonderful and deliciuos sanwichs, the market is less than half block to your right side, buy the water there, because the minibar on the room is three times more the cot.but is a wonderful hotel and pretty clean

Think twice

When we opened the door to the hotel- My first thought we were sleeping on a pull out couch! We had a thin mattress on basic metal frame; dirty rug that was actually very frayed, chipped paint- absolutely no character. The bathroom while clean was in need of update! If the room had not been pre-paid with a no- refund policy we would have left the next day. On the positive side: about 50 steps to metro stop, plenty of hot water, helpful staff. Cafes, general store, bakeries all around. Safe area.

decent budget hotel

Overall, the fact that it was by the metro and that the deal we got was far less expensive than their posted prices (295 EU/night) was great. The 9EU breakfast was also fantastic, but by the middle of the trip we just went to the supermarche and bought all of the same things and the boulongerie across the street for fresh baguettes every morning and replicated the same breakfast in our rooms (keeping the meat and cheese and OJ in the minibar) for about 3EU a day total. There was quite a bit of mold in the ceiling of the bathroom. Also, the service was inconsistent during our 7 night stay. The first 3 days we got fresh towels...then it was every other day. I don't mind saving the planet and reusing my towel, but it felt like we were in trouble and were having our towel privileges taken away or something. Also, we accidentally broke one of the water glasses 4 days into the stay and it was never replaced. Every day we just got our one remaining glass washed and replaced on the minibar. Weird. Most of the staff was friendly (mostly the men, not the women) and they did vacuum our room every day (necessary, after all of the baguette-eating in the room every morning). There were safes for use in the lobby and they didn't mind when we came or went. We had to probe to ask about amenities (nothing was explained to us upon checking in (breakfast, safes, etc)). It wasn't close to anything walkable (except pastries and rotisserie chicken...don't try the Chinese restaurant next door!!). But it was steps from the Metro, our lifeblood.

If you plan on using the metro, get one of the combo tickets from the stations. There are 1, 3, and 5 day passes. OR, at the larger stations, you can buy a week pass that's good Monday to Sunday (great if you arrive on a Sunday and are leaving the next weekend). It's called Carte Orange, and you have to bring a passport-size photo to get one. Very worth it! You never spend time on your vacation griping about needing to spend 3EU just to go back to the hotel to change your shoes!

No frills

This hotel had the friendliest & most helpful staff I've ever experienced in Paris. It's also quite close to the Metro (about 4 doors down) which was perfect for me. As a single traveller on a sight-seeing vacation, this hotel fit my needs & budget. I will say that the hotel rooms could use a new paint job. My room had blackened areas around light fixture in bathroom & heater in bedroom where long use was quite evident.

Nice Hotel, BUT NO AIR CONDITIONING

The hotel was in a perfect location for us. We were using the metro to get around in Paris which was less than a block from the hotel. The staff were all extremely friendly and made us feel welcome. HOWEVER, there is NO AIR CONDITIONING at this hotel. One of the descriptions says there is, but THERE IS NOT. Our first night there we were exhausted from traveling and were really surprised when we found out there was no air conditioning (because once again the description said there was.) We asked the worker in the lobby and they said the air for the building is not turned on. Keep in mind our visit was July 31-August 4 which is part of the hottest time of the year. I know it gets down into the 60's at night but that is not enough to cool a room down. The hotel also doesn't have fans to borrow either. Cold showers was what kept us sane in this hot hotel room. Great vacation; however, it was really hard to sleep at night due to it being so hot.

convenient

Hotel location is very close to metro station and surrounded by food places which is convenient. The cons are that the room had no air conditioning. The bathroom was dated and the room was relatively tiny.

Good hotel for the price

The hotel was good for the price. However, the blankets, pillows and beds were not in the best condition. Also, the area was not the greatest, a little far from the main city.

Convenient location, great price

Good hotel for those needing a place to leave their things while running around Paris. Room was small, but we did not spend much time in the room. Plenty of hot water for the shower. Bed was comfortable. Staff was friendly. Great pastry shop right across the street and plenty of restaurants nearby. Metro stop was 100 feet from the hotel, which made sightseeing easy. Able to get to and from the airport and most popular sites very quickly.

Simply somewhere to rest our heads

This hotel was book at last minute due to an earlier cancellation. The previous hotel would have been much more central and one more star, so I would say that my view of this hotel is probably a bit biased against it. As somewhere to rest our heads it was fine. Quite small, not hugely clean (but not filthy either). No iron or tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Very powerful shower which was great with plenty of hot water. It is quite far out from the centre however it is literally two doors down from a metro station. If your planning to not spend a huge amount of time in the room e.g. just to sleep, then this hotel will be fine. However, if you are looking for a romantic hotel this is not the one.
