Paris is love

Hotel is a perfect location to the Metro...across the street. Take it & you can get to wherever you chose! Quaint little cafes around the area & walking distance to the Eiffel Tower. Can't get better than that! Staff was helpful when necessary & hotel is average. If all you're going to do is sleep & shower & enjoy all Paris has to offer, than the hotel is just fine.

This hotel is right across the

This hotel is right across the road from Dupleix train station (metro line 6) albeit if you have a lot of luggage you are best off getting a taxi because changing platforms from the airport involves a lot of stairs. The train station across the road is great for getting around on a Paris visite pass though. Nearby there are lots of restaurants with tasty food, a market on Sundays, chemist, supermarket, laundromat... and most importantly the Eiffel Tower! Very good location. Our room looked just like the photo with a view of the tip of the Eiffel Tower but a tad dated with scuffed wallpaper. The breakfast buffet was a great free addition to our stay and the staff in the restaurant were very polite and friendly. The reception staff did what they needed to do and little more. The quilt and pillows are feather and very soft. The room is quite small but this is pretty normal anywhere in Europe. As a whole, we had a good stay and would stay again.

too small to be comfortable

for first timers we will not recommend this hotel. we were very excited to finally visit paris. the city of romance and good food. well were we wrong! kicker was the room. we ordered a superior room what was 30 dollar more a night than the classic room. it was approx. 9 by 8 feet. the bathroom was clean and a nice size. we asked to show us the classic room and that was even smaller. i would have much rather ordered the smaller room than i would have not been so disappointet. i am originally from europe and i know small but this was too small for comfort. the location was okay and we did a lot of walking. we saw everything so that we don't have to come back to paris. service in paris is terrible people are not friendly and nobody wants to explain anything. we tried to find out how to rent a bike and not even the hotel stuff wanted to help. in the same trip we also went to amsterdam and germany and we had a much better time. if anybody wants to listen europe is so beautiful and people are so nice but not in paris. we payed so much money for just a few days and we did not get what we hoped for.

Location and service was great,

Location and service was great, however some of the facilities weren't so good. They gym downstairs was like a sauna and there was no open windows to cool it down. The rooms weren't super clean and there was mould growing in some places on the ceilings. Beds were very hard too.

Overrated

My husband and I were in Paris for one day following a very enjoyable five day visit to Lyon, France. We choose to stay in the Hotel Mercure because of its close proximity to the tourist attractions [...]. Immediately upon exiting the cab in front of the hotel, I knew we had been duped. The hotel exterior in no way resembled the sexy, sleek images [...]. That was only the beginning of the most horrible hotel stay of my lifetime. The room, which was somewhat small, was very outdated. The bed coverings were below standard, the television volume could not be adjusted above low, and the air conditioner was out of commission. The outside temperature hovered around 85 degrees F which probably meant that the temperature in the room was at least 95 degrees. When I reported to the front desk clerk that our air conditioner was not working, I was told that our they were aware of that fact and that it had been out of service for about three days. Also, the clerk noted that the repair person would not be there for another couple of days. [...] we had to spend the night in this horrible room. In total, we probably slept 4 to 5 hours. I was never more eager to see daylight and get off to the airport. This is the worst hotel stay I have ever had. The only good thing about the hotel was its location directly across the street from a metro station. My suggestion is to avoid this hotel. If ever in Lyon, try the Hotel Sofitel.

nice location

the location of the hotel is very good. you can reach to public transportation easly which is in my opinion the best way for travalling in city center of Paris. The reception desk was very helpfull and generally the hotel was clean. the room was a bit small and the car parking rate was a bit high...
