Good location with extra charges
Nick Oct 20, 2009
The location and setting are pretty much as in the official description. Very good location, active but safe neighborhood, ... very close to the metro and with lots of restaurants, shops and attractions within walking distance. The courtyard is pleasant and well maintained from what I could tell. All of the staff I met were respectful and spoke decent English. My room was comfortable. The bathroom was nice and clean but some of the functionality was not up to par. The shower head was not well installed and spread water all over the place. The tub wouldn't drain until I figured out that the plug was not set corectly. In the room, one of the lamps did not work. Another source of minor annoyance is that they charge for things that are often included but do not make that very clear. In my case this would be internet access and breakfast. The prices were by no means excessive considering the city and the location, but also not neglibigle. To give an idea of what I mean by not making things clear about extra charges: I asked about the internet access at check-in and was told that there was a wireless network and how to connect to it. However, the fact that you had to pay for it did not come up in the conversation.

Lovely four-star hotel
toytrain13 Sep 14, 2009
Very nice hotel. Great location at the edge of the Marais District. Our room (part of a package deal) was somewhat small, but ... modern, comfortable, and very clean. The staff was helpful, courteous, and most of them spoke English. Our room, a non-smoking room, facing the courtyard, was very quiet, except for a Friday night when a religious service, with praying, singing and partying, went on until past Midnight. There was a very nice (but expensive at 20 Euros) buffet breakfast. There was a nice little Bistro (Bistro Amelot) a few steps away. We loved this place and would like to return.

The metro stop is just around the corner but I would walk a little futther to the Bastille stop to avoid changing trains for many destinations. That area also has tons of restuarnats and a great morning market on Sundays and Thursdays.

Good Value for the Money but . . .
I love Paris Sep 1, 2009
This is not a 4 star hotel but not bad value for the money. The cost of breakfast and internet service is way too high. If ... I was going to do it over again I would definately look for a hotel that included breakfast. We found the staff generally helpful.

Les Jardins - not the garden of paradise
Mindox Aug 25, 2009
The rooms were so tiny - two people could not pass around the bed at the same time. No dresser drawers, poor room lighting, ... linens had holes. The beds were so narrow, it was impossible to roll over in the night. The air conditioning didn't work properly and the room never got cool (it was in the 90's!). While the hotel was 2 blocks from the Metro I would not say it was ideally located. It was in the outskirts of the Marais. We arrived at 10 a.m. after flying 18 hours and they would not let us check in early. They did however, provide us with city maps, but I believe that is done at all hotels. I don't recommend this hotel and would not return!

Lovely hotel & restaurant
CMC Jun 13, 2009
Lovely hotel with a very fine restaurant located on a small street one block from the St. Sebastien Froissart metro station ... on Boulevard des Filles in the 11th arrondissement. However, the room ("classic room" category) lacked a comfortable chair. And the otherwise very nice large central courtyard also lacked comfortable seats. The selections available for breakfast were quite adequate but the pasties were not up to Paris bakery standards. The breakfast is an additional 20 euros and internet access is an additional 10 euros for 24 hours (hard wired in the room). No wifi.

The hotel restaurant is excellent (and clearly different from the chef responsible for breakfast).

Great location a little outside of the Marais, but a cozy neighborhood with the metro right around the corner. Supermarkets ... are close. I got free internet on my laptop from the room! Great room, quiet. Very nice staff. I would stay there again and recommend the place.

Check out the small streets in the Marais. Don't miss Place des Voges. Don't be afraid to try any resturant. Couldn't get a bad meal if you'd try! But, watch out for the smelly French Sausages!!

Near Metro/Friendly Staff!
LML, twenty-something May 23, 2009
The hotel was lovely. The lobby is incredibly modern, and the patio area (see the hotel's website for pics) is a dream for ... the summertime. I took a glass of wine from the bar and was able to relax outside while the sun set. Note that the guest rooms are a contrast from the lobby; they are not decorated with much style. I'm not one to stay in the room while I'm on vacation, though, so to me this didn't matter. My room, while furnished in the traditional style of any Sheraton-level hotel, was functional and comfortable. The staff members were friendly and accommodating. They all spoke English perfectly.

Romantic getaway
karenoel May 5, 2009
We were in Paris for a Romantic 50th Birthday. The staff was extremely helpful. The rooms were kept very clean, tho they ... were kind of small, but this is Europe, and that is to be expected when you stay in a building that's over 200 years old! The courtyard was clean, quite and inviting. The hotel is in a more residential type area, but it is just a metro ride from any of Paris' major attractions.

Just wander the streets and you will find excellent food near by. In fact, the Bistro Amelot, (right next door to the hotel) has delicious food and the pricing is extremely affordable.

This was my first time in Paris and I loved every minute of it. I took my 16 yr old daughter with me and we had a great ... time. The hotel was nice. The staff was very friendly and accomadating. They also spoke english which was very helpful for us since we only knew basic French. The room we had was small, but according to European standards it was normal as I've been told. The metro was just around the corner and seemed to be a major hub to all the popular attractions we visited. It is also within walking distance to the Bastille, many restaurants and shops. I would stay at this hotel again. It was definately worth it.

Solid Value in a Four Star Hotel
Un Boulevardier Apr 22, 2009
The location very close to the Metro and to the Marais was wonderful. And because it is a bit outside the heart of hotel ... country (the First and Second Arrondissements), room rates are a bit cheaper. The rooms are quite pretty and the desk staff very helpful. That is what I want in a Paris hotel. Anything more might interfere with my reason for coming: being in Paris! We did three operas (at the Bastille, Chatelet and O'Comique) and took a day-trip on the Thalys TGV to Brussels, Belgium. My wife took a cooking class at the Atelier des Sens. Mass at Notre Dame. Musees: the Louvre, M d'O, Marmottan Monet and Carnavalet. The Musee Picasso was within walking distance but we ran out of time (we've been there before). One hiccup: somewhere between Orbitz and the hotel our reservation had gotten lost, but once I showed my confirmation letter, the desk said they'd clear up the paperwork after getting us in our room. End of the drama (except perhaps that we got one of the smallest rooms on the floor: "c'est la vie.") We have been to Paris eight times and we will be going back. I'd be happy to stay at the Jardin du Marais again.

David Dec 26, 2008
This was a great hotel-we were very pleased! It is in a GREAT location-SO CLOSE to the Metro station!!! The staff was very ... friendly and helpful and the room quite comfortable. The only complaint I have was that there was a very strange and strong smell in the hotel hallways and rooms...maybe it was their cleaning products? I don't know but it was quite unpleasant! We just opened the window and lit our travel candles to help! Everything else was great!

consider your options
Chris Aug 13, 2007
The hotel staff was welcoming and very friendly. The cleaning was ok at best the bathroom had mold in some areas other then ... that the rest was clean. The morning breakfeast I would pass on at the price aggs cold 2 days in a row. It was a mile from the Marais area. I would consider my options and stay elsewhere. By no means whatsoever would I give 4 stars I would say a 3 star at best and if there not careful could fall to a 2 star in my book. I had to ask everytime I needed soap or shampoo never replacing it as needed. I say look elsewhere and consider your options. I must say though the front desk staff was very nice.
