I chose this hotel because of location ..the Air France Bus from CDG stops right in front ..it was easy to get to and to ... leave, the metro is nearby and it is not a tourist trap area. The hotel gave us a beautiful with city view. The rooms were clean and the bathrooms were modern and clean..the staff was always courtious and fully bilingual..no complaints ..would I stay there again? absolutely!

The hotel was very nice, more than we expected. The restaurants and bars in the hotel were a little on the expensive side, ... but the service was great. The hotel staff were pleasant and very accomodating in spite of our limited abilty to speak French. The folks at the concierge desk were very knowledgable and made some excellant restaurant recommendations. We would stay there again.

Great Location and Good Bargain
JohnB Sep 28, 2009
The hotel management and staff were very pleasant, efficient and helpful. The entire facility was clean and well maintained, ... with recent renovations nearly completed. We did find the hotel restaurants to be somewhat limiting and without a good option for a quick and relatively easy/simple breakfast and/or lunch. There were, however many good restaurants in the immediate area, that offered many choices and price levels. The hotel is well located, with good, near-by transportation options(train, metro, busses, etc.). Our experience was very good in all catagories and we would certainly consider staying there again when in Paris.

Meridien's Mice

Great beds, amentities like the TV a bit outdated, they use a sensor in the fridge and bill you automatically even though you ... may not consume so check your bill. Cleaning staff was friendly and nice. Main gastronomic restaurant and bar are not open in August. Lobby bar is open 'til 1am in summer, 2am in winter, small incident with a mouse running around the area - wife didn't appreciate the rodent as much as I did. Also upon checkout had to correct staff member who was going to charge me for the full reservation. Sucks to have to check bills at 6am.

Grocery store and good shopping next door - beware, nothing of consequence in the neighbourhood is open on Sundays. It would be best to get out of Paris on this day or at least spend most of the day recovering from a hangover.

Great hotel in Paris!
Christie Jul 11, 2009
This was my second stay at this hotel, my husband's first. He is very finicky but thought Le Meridien Montparnasse was great ... and on a par with another hotel, located near the Champs Elysee, we stayed in the first part of our week in Paris. The location is outstanding, close to transportation and plenty of good places to eat as well as three grocery stores within a short walk. The Air France bus drops off and picks up across the street from the hotel. The lobby and bar areas have been renovated sincee my first trip in July 2007. They look fresh and inviting although I will admit that we did not use the bar or hotel restaurants. We would definitely stay there again!

Get a several day pass for one of the double decker open air, get-on-get-off busses. Buy a Museum Pass for quick entry into an enormous number of museums in and around Paris. Also buy a Metro pass and learn to read the Metro maps. The Metro is a quick, safe, and inexpensive way to get around the city.

Good Mega Hotel
Randall Jul 1, 2009
We checked into this hotel after a bad experience with the neighborhood of the Kube hotel. We were very happy with a hotel ... that obviously knows the needs of business and leisure travels. Though there is nothing charming about the hotel, it offers all the typical amenities and services of a 4 star "American Style" hotel, which can be difficult to find in Paris. For the rate (below 200 Euros) we were VERY happy. I would not pay more than 350 ish.

First of all, I was on my honeymoon and this seemed to be more of a business hotel, so I wasn't into the vibe. The lobby was ... constantly filled with stewardesses and convention-goers, and I would have preferred something a little more cozy. I couldn't know that based on the descriptions, though. The amenities, I felt, were sorely lacking compared to U.S. hotels in the same price range. They say there is free wifi in the lobby and on the first floor, but it's ad-driven and would drop your connection every 5-10 minutes and you have to go find/click on a new ad. Ethernet in the rooms is $25/day... RIDICULOUS. NO breakfast whatsoever. There's a gym but it's only open 7am-10pm, and I was never able to check it out. I think the worst part was the lack of blankets/sheets. Our room had one light comforter, and that was it. We had a lot of trouble reaching a compromise where we could both be reasonably comfortable. Perhaps they provide extra bedding on request but I didn't see why I should have to go begging for a blanket. It was only about 64 degrees tops when we were there and there were some chilly nights despite the thermostat. My husband complained about hearing the Metro constantly even though we were about 9-10 floors up. Overall the staff was very, very nice, and it was a nice enough atmosphere, just not what we were looking for. The juxtaposition of insanely expensive restaurants with the lack of simple breakfast items, internet access, and bedding showed misplaced priorities.

This was our first trip to Paris so we didn't know much about the city before arriving there. We were happy to learn that Le ... Meridien Montparnasse is located close to the Metro and RER stations. It made getting around the city very convenient and made our trip back to the airport quite pleasant (the Air France bus stops right across the street from the hotel, leaves every half hour and is quite reasonably priced). Our room at the hotel was not luxurious but was apparently larger than the average Parisian hotel room. It was clean and well maintained. We would recommend it to travelers to Paris.

There is a large number of restaurants in Paris. However, most are very expensive in comparison to US cities, even New York City, and in proportion to the cost of transportation, museum entry fees, hotel rooms, etc. in Paris. The food portions also seem to be much smaller than those served in American restaurants (probably a good thing). However, there are some very good restaurants at the Rue Cler area that cater to locals and which are very good and very reasonably priced.
