Each one of the Hotel du Louvre's four facades looks out at a famous Parisian landmark - the Louvre Museum, the Opera Garnier, the Comedie Francaise and the Place du Palais Royal. This area is rich in history and the hotel's Second Empire architecture is mirrored by the surrounding buildings in this special quarter of Paris.

Nice couples hotel

Nice, old place right across the street from the Lourve, 2 blocks to Seine river and 2 blocks walk to tour office. Bed very comfortable. A/C could have worked better. Lounge a little pricey. Many, many alternatives for dining nearby.

excellent location, but hotel is a bit outdated

The location absolutely could not have been better! The staff was superb! However, the hotel itself, although it has somewhat historic ambiance, needs to be spruced up a bit in its decor. The rooms had outstanding views, but we noticed a crack in the bathroom window (was letting cold air in).

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

virtually next door to the Louvre - helps if you want to beat the lines and get to the museum as early as it opens.

Great Location

We were upgraded to a corner room on the 4th floor overlooking the Louvre and the Plaza - fantastic. Needed to keep the windows/balcony doors open as it was warm and the AC was not yet on - "transition time". A little noisy on the street and plaza but after a while - were able to adjust the doors to get a breeze and limit the noise - oh how we suffered!! First class staff - they provided a great fan and when the room was not ready they hosted us to a drink in the bar. Great location - great hotel.

Great location, the rest is just ok

If you want to stay near the Louvre, then this is your ticket. From our room, 305, we could actually see right into the museum. Also, there is a metro entrance probably 50 meters from the front entrance to the hotel; 5 meters from the back door. Also, we had a real king size bed with a decent size (by Paris standards) room - this was not a suite, just a deluxe room. The free wifi worked fine. Now for the so so part. The 2nd day that we were there, housekeeping left no toilet paper. It took 3 calls to the front desk to resolve the problem. Also, the hot water from the shower goes hot to cold to hot while you are taking your shower. Food in the hotel is very high priced and nothing to write home about. However, with all the great places within 5 to 10 minutes from the hotel, who cares. We were on the 4th floor (American standards) and could still hear the metro trains running early morning, but it wasn't terrible. That may come from being on the east side of the hotel facing the entrance to the metro bleow.

wonderful anniversary trip

This hotel is absolutely fabulous. We arrived relatively early so our room was not ready. We wandered the streets of Paris and returned at 1:30. Our room was ready in fifteen minutes and when we entered we were greeted with a lovely bottle of wine and a box of delicious macarons. The hotel is centrally located and has a metro station within a few steps. Directly across from the Louvre, near shopping and great restaurants and cafes. The in room toiletries are A one. We would definitely stay there again on our next trip to Paris.

Best Location and beautiful room!

The location was amazing. Everything was convenient from there and metro stop right outside the door, convenient walking to many museums, great restaurants, bistros and landmarks. Hotel Bar had great wine selection. Room was ready when we arrived 3 hours early and was large, well appointed including refrigerator and air conditioning. Bathroom was amazing with large tub, seperate shower stall, 2 sinks, etc. Would definately go back there to stay.

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

Buy a "Paris Pass" online before you go. You can skip long lines, have metro and RER tickets prepaid, just about all museums and attractions are prepaid and included for a good price. Saw and went to things I may not have otherwise done.

Hotel du Louvre Rocks!

This hotel is perfectly located near Musee du Louvre. We stayed for 6 nights in a Junior Suite. The room was well appointed and decorated in deep rich reds. We had a flat screen TV, Bose Radio & CD Player, in room safe, Robes & Slippers and a Hairdryer. One great surprise was that the room had a corkscrew, came in helpful. The toilettries were from Annick Goutal and had a pleasant scent. The tap in the bathroom was hooked up to a filter and was perfect for drinking water (we refilled our Evian bottles daily). The concierge is approachable and found us some great bistros and cafes. You can also purchase a Museum Pass directly from the Hotel (which they charge to your room). My only negatives were that the Air Conditioning on the 4th floor could not keep up with the 80 degree weather outside and the room got stuffy. The A/C in the fitness center was icy, but also seemed to be in a newer part of the Hotel. The Hotel is non-smoking, but we had smoke from neighboring rooms waft in (kinda gross). But overall, a great place to stay!!

The Best Hotel I've ever stayed in!

I wanted to give my Mother a special week in Paris, and the Hotel du Louvre exceeded my expectations beyond anything I could have imagined. My Mother loved Paris, and loved the hotel. I'm grateful to the entire staff, especially the concierge desk which was outstanding.

All hotel rooms in Paris are small

All hotel rooms in Paris are small or very small - we had hoped the room vould be around 30-35 m2. It was substantially less; however the bathroom was comparetively big. Suggestion: The room size is an important parameter for hotel rooms in Paris.

Three generations in Paris

I picked Hotel du Louvre based on the location because I am unable to walk very far. There were excellent cafes and restaurants on about 5 different streets which radiate out from the hotel like spokes on a wheel. Taxis were easy to get also and quite cheap. The suggestions from the concierge were excellent - i.e. van trip to Versailles, fantastic Japanese restaurant the last night. We didn't eat at the hotel - always went out exploring. The room wasn't fancy but the bed, bed linens, service, bathrooms were excellent It was expensive but seemed worth it. Highly recommend "Zelia Sur La Terre Comme Au Ciel" a block away. My daughter found her wedding dress (which we weren't looking for) at this fantastic and affordable designer's store. A great trip for me, my mother and my 21 year old daughter. Orbitz travel person recommended handicapped status at the airports. It was magnificent to be greeted at Charles de Gaulle by two lovely young men with wheel chairs who whisked us through the airport and security with the greatest of ease.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Go to more casual cafes. Read the menu posted outside first. Try to get a prix fixe meal that includes everything. When you order a la carte and get several things you spend too much money.
