Do,not want to say.

They need to upgrade their sever. Some of the staff are not upbeat. They hurry you to leave the room so that they can clean the room and leave. They ask you to pay for the breakfast at check out; this was not mentioned in the contract that you need to pay for breakfast. Breakfast is the same everyday. eggs are not cooked well. staff don't like to answer your questions. they need to be upbeat.

Work trip

OK. Room very small, average cleanliness, WiFI erratic (worked sometimes), location good lots of nearby bars/restaurants (but more than 10 minutes to nearest Metro). Good point - a very Parisien experience.

Half-decent budget hotel

This is your typical bare-bones budget hotel, one step up from a hostel. The location is pretty decent: you are in Montparnasse area, 5 minutes walk from the Metro stations Plaisance and Alesia. Paris subway is reliable enough to get you pretty much anywhere you'd care to go within the city in 30 minutes or less, so this is a plus. The general area is decent and mostly clean, though there are occasional bums you may run into, but they aren't aggressive. There are a lot of places to eat nearby (both eat-in and take-out). Also nearby is a laundromat, good for those traveling light or backpacking. The room itself is very small, and lacks an air conditioner, which is no doubt awful if the weather is hot. The hotel staff keeps the place clean, but it is in quite a bit of disrepair - wallpaper peels, carpet is worn, tile is shabby and everything looks like it seriously needs an update. Still, it's clean enough and the bed is comfortable enough if you only need to come back to the room to sleep and spend most of your time out in Paris. If you are looking for a clean, no-frills place to crash for a low price, this is an option for you. But be prepared to put up with shabby and outdated rooms, and don't expect a posh romantic getaway.

There are many take-out places nearby, as well as 2 supermarkets. If you are looking to save money on food, grab your meals there and eat in the room.

Staff friendly, as to the room, depends on your luck

The first nite spent in a tiny, narrow room, clean except for the carpet. Bed very clean, good TV, bathroom clean, but so small you can't (literally) turn around in it, though shower is quite big enuf. View, rather dingy court and backs of other buildings. Closet paper ripped, cheapest of cheap Goodwill night table, desk is a shelf, armoire also Goodwill vintage, but smells ok (not musty). WOrst was elevator right next to room, and THIN walls, so could hear every word spoken in room on other side. Check out your room before settling - you may have a choice of rooms, if hotel's not full. Second nite better - the kind man at desk upgraded me to a bigger room, much more comfy, bed very clean and comfortable, and bathroom more spacious. Great location, close to tram and bus lines. Quiet enuf at night. Good for short stay, small budget.

Worth it.

The hotel was nice for its value. It was close to metro/tram stations, so if you bought a day pass, you could see the major landmarks without problems. There are plenty of little cafes around the area so you didn't have to walk far to find food if you wanted to keep it local.

Just walk down Rue Didot, there are plenty of food establishments there from affordable to a bit splurgy.
