Two Star Budget Hotel is Five Star Value

Small, quiet hotel in an enjoyable, safe neighborhood. 24 hour desk service. Convenient to Metro, Bus lines, and airport transportation (Roissybus and RER B at Gare du Nord). Nicely decorated and maintained. Exceptionally clean. Rooms are small, but this is Paris and you won't be hanging out in your room, will you? All rooms have a sink, mine also had a shower, which was tiny but adequate and much appreciated. Toilet in hallway is spotless and not a problem. Staff speaks English well and all were extremely gracious and helpful. Breakfast available but not required. Bottom line: Monte Carlo is the best bargain I have found in several visits to the City of Lights! Highly recommended for Singles and Couples, and Seniors like me. Nice sized elevator.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Many small and inexpensive Cafes and Bistros close by. Wonderful boulangerie run by two terrific ladies. If you get homesick or want to save some Euros for dinner there is a Subway store two blocks away with fresher Veggies than you will get in the U.S.

Great location for the price

This hotel was close to either the locations or the metro so it was very easy to get around. We found the hotel staff very helpful in answering all our questions. It was easy to hear the other guests though it was usually quite. Everything was clean. We got what we paid for and nothing more. Overall it was great for our needs and we would stay there again.

Any and all restaurants are very good. The one that was recommended Chez Chartez was our least favorite mainly because it was so commercialized and not very authentic. Shopping near the Gallery is great.

Charming ~ Not typical American Std Htl

As a single woman alone, my first concern was safety and after iniatially being a bit skeptical, I felt very safe both during the day and night. Walk around the neighborhood, you'll find shops, a "convenience store" across the street, some nice cafes and restaurants, two good bakeries, two currency exchanges down the block towards Haussman Street (with O'Sullivans, the Oz Bar and Hard Rock Cafe). Around the corner from the hotel is the Follies Bergere which I only found the day I left. Don't expect much from the accomodations but it was perfect for that charm and character lacking in American Chain Hotels. Staff was very accomodating and I didn't have a problem not speaking French. The toilet down the hall was not as much as an inconvenience as I would have thought but remember to take your room key with you. I thought the shuttle from the airport was a good idea, as well as purchasing the hop on/hop off pass including the Batobus boat, and getting a museum pass that saves you waiting in line.

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

If you are changing money compare the rate and ask if there is a service charge and how much you will actually get back for the amount you are changing. Currency exchanges aren't always open on Sundays and the ones close to tourist places have the worst rates

Charming location with stupendous servic

Right next to an okay Metro stop (Le Peletier, with direct access to Opera and Louvre, but otherwise not ideal). Amazingly helpful staff. The bedrooms with shared bath, etc., are very cute but also rather tight squeezes--what you'd expect for Paris--except that they seem to get rather warm at night. Our fan couldn't quite keep up with our unusually warm 80° June nights.

Great Location

Being that this was my frist time in Paris, I wasn't sure what to expect besides small rooms. My room was very small, but who plans to spend 24 hrs there. The hotel is very charming and the rooms are clean and efficient. The hotel is within walking proximity to everything and conveniently close to transportation, via metro or bus. I walked to/ from most of the major attractions, only taking public transportion when my feet were tired! Within 2-5 mins of the hotel is a mini market, hair salons, internet cafe and a very good bakery, plus tons of restaurants. The only thing about this hotel is the shared bathroom (the toilet and shower are even separate). I'm not sure if this is an European hotel custom, but all in all, it wasnt bad. And the guy at the front desk, I don't remember his name, (white guy, maybe 30-ish, bald head) he is the sweetest thing on earth!!! Ask him anything about Paris!!

Nightlife tip: Not Applicable

For the best nightlife experience, you have to travel to the St. Michel area. Best way to get there is by metro. There are tons of small bars/clubs and an array of places to eat.

Great hotel, great rate, friendly staff!

This was our first trip to Paris, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but we were thrilled with Hotel Monte Carlo! It was cute, with playful, colorful design in the lobby as well as the rooms and all the amenities you could want. No, the rooms are not huge - but hey, it's Paris, and we planned to spend most of our time exploring. However, the rooms were spotless and adorable, with everything we needed, including a private bath and a shower with lots of hot water and great water pressure. The BEST thing about the hotel - and there are many great things - is [...]! He is helpful, fun, friendly and loves sharing great tips and insight about Paris with his guests. The Monte Carlo is a smart choice for money and amenities. [...] even loaned us a wine opener and knife when we took food from the local markets for a picnic at Versailles. A great hotel close to the Metro as well as the Louvre and other Paris attractions.

Buy bread, cheese, wine, pastries and meats from the local markets just near the hotel - then enjoy them at one of the many beautiful Paris locations! You'll save money over eating out for every meal, and you'll create wonderful picnic memories!

Great budget hotel

I enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Monte Carlo. The rooms were very clean and well kept, although very small. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It's perfect if you're on a budget and don't mind the small rooms, and don't mind a short walk to get to the main attractions of Paris (about 10 minutes to the Louvre). I would stay here again!
