Paris boutique hotel tempts with access to bars, cafes and shopping
Hotel Jules delivers big on style in a boutique setting. Rooms are decorated with contemporary whimsy, with unpredictable accents like big white lips and zebra rugs driving the theme. Guests who explore the nearby environs find a rich fabric of cafes, theaters, cinemas and bars all within walking distance, plus places to shop for clothes and antiques. A 50s-inspired diner is all-American in feel.
Highlights
- Paris boutique hotel with a contemporary flair and whimsy
- Wi-Fi access and LCD TV
- American diner-inspired breakfast room
- Walking distance to shops, theaters, cinemas and cafes
Location
The 9th arrondissement--a shopping, theater and nightlife hub--presents guests of Hotel Jules with a multitude of leisure options. Start with the boutiques at the Grands Magasins, explore antique stores in the Drouot quarter and finish with theaters and cafes on bubbly bubbly rue du Faubourg Montmartre.
Rooms
Hotel Jules rooms and suites embrace contemporary style, with a few unexpected touches thrown in. Guests might find a pair of white lips hung playfully against a brown and black checkerboard wall or a whimsical throw pillow embroidered with clouds. Stark white linens contrast well with the wood furniture and playful pieces like poster-pinup art and zebra rugs. In every room, guests have an LCD TV, Wi-Fi access and video on demand.
Dining
Petit dejeuner at Hotel Jules comprises staples like juice, cereal and fresh fruit, but the design inspiration in the breakfast room stems from the classic American diner. Guests have their coffee at red tables topped with cute silver salt and pepper shakers. The meal is served from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. or can be delivered directly to the room.

Pretty Nice Place
Hotel Jules is a simple but elegant kind of place. The rooms and general decor are very stylish. Further, the staff was always superbly friendly and helpful. All and all, i'd definitely stay there again. The location is also pretty nice. Its right below montmarte, which is a cool place but not one i'd want to stay in (pigalle is a little shifty at night IMO) and right above halle/opera which has great shopping and eating. I was very pleased with the location, overall. My only criticism is that wifi is only free the first day, then 9EU for cellular devices/22EU for computers per day. That is seriously my only criticism. Great place.

Short walk from hotel
Alright, if you want the best in terms of take away food starting from the Hotel Jules, walk south on Rue de Montmarte until you hit Rue de Reaumur, then walk east until you hit Rue de Petits Carreaux (on the right). Every place i ate there was amazing. There's chocolate, pastries, sandwiches, sit down, take out, wine, everything. Petits Carreaux was not on any of the paris maps i saw, but great.

Excellent Hotel and location in Paris!
This was our first trip to Paris, and we lucked out on the hotel! A beautiful, spacious room (we got a deluxe room), with a great view of Rue Lafayette. Styling was very cool, sort of 1960's "Mod". I liked it. The front desk staff were more than helpful with restaurant tips (there are so many in the area), and helped when our ride didn't show up for our return home. This hotel was a block from the Metro (Le Peletier), and a few more blocks to other stops. About 3 blocks from the "Gallery Lafayette", the fashion shopping center for Paris. It is like going to Macy's in New York! You could see the Sacre Ceur from the north facing streets, very nice! I would suggest going to the little store (out of the hotel, take a left, then another left) for water, soda and snacks, their prices fit better on a budget if you are in Paris for a while. (I DID use the mini bar, too) All in all, an excellent hotel! Clean (friendly housekeeping staff), great location, and a breakfast to die for! (I miss the croissants and bread already!) The Bar was also great, perfect Mojitos, and great Champagne on Saturday night, on the street, it was great!

Au Petit Richie - 25, rue Le Peletier. This was the BEST meal I had in Paris. FABULOUS food, outstanding service, and great prices! I suggest dressing a bit, though, I showed up in jeans, and felt underdressed, although other tourists were dressed similarly, the "Locals" were dressed.

good option for Paris
Pick a bigger room, you'll be more comfortable... Good location, clean, nice design. Take a pass of breakfast, lots of options nearby, the hotel's B-fast room is in the basement, small, crowded and with poor service.

Fundamentally expensive.
The Hotel was OK. Great if we had expend about 200 euros a night. We we did expend about 300 and for that amount it is lacking.

nice and clean
the hotel is pretty nice. the rooms are small, very small, but clean and nicely decorated. Caveat: we got a great, heavily discounted rate on the room. I think i would feel very differently about the experience if i had paid full price. On the positive side of things: the breakfast is good, and there is a metro stop just a block away. On the negative side: the advertised fitness room does not exist (it is just an empty hotel room), and the front desk only selectively answers the phone. bottom line: a good deal if you are paying the (very much) discounted rate.

Disappointed
It's hard not to start out with the bad news that I was bitten by bed bugs during my stay (Room 417.) I noticed a few on one arm early on, but convinced myself that they must be spider bites. But when I got more, my suspicion grew, and upon my return home I googled and found confirmation online that indeed my bites were bed bug bites. I only had about a dozen so that's good, and I confirmed it prior to unpacking, but I have spent much time and effort now trying to make sure I didn't bring any bugs or larva home with me. I have my shoes and many of my clothes from the trip still "quarantined" and every new itch causes me a little panic. I waited to write this review in hopes of getting an apology or something, but the email I wrote six days ago to the hotel and the managing company hasn't been acknowledged.Other than that :/ it was an unremarkable stay at an adequate hotel. A single stop metro station is within a very short walk and there are several bistros and a couple small groceries very close by. The bed (other than the bites) was very comfortable. Found the street noise to be tolerable for a city when the windows were closed and heard very little noise through the walls, but the noise coming from the hallway was a bit much (travel with ear plugs!) Also problems with cigarette somke in the halls coming from non-smoking rooms. Had some trouble with a shower head but [...]l had it taken care of right away. Complained upon arrival that there was no clock in the room and no full length mirror. The desk clerk brought me a small mirror and I was told that the TV had a clock. The only way to tell time was to go through the menu options on the TV and pull up the wake up call feature which had the time. Later learned that some tv models had a clock on the base/face of the unit. While I appreciated getting the small mirror, it wouldn't have cost them but a small percentage of what I paid for the room to buy and provide me with a full length mirror and a cheap clock. Had I found a store that sold these items I would have bought them myself. The breakfast was fine. Scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, cereal, bread, croissant (with and without chocolate), fruit, yogurt, coffee, juices, etc. Mine was included with the price of the room so don't know if I would have paid for this service otherwise. The neighborhood felt safe and was not too busy or congested but lively enough to be interesting.

Don't try to go to one major museum on a day when another major museum is closed...everyone will be in line. Waited 3 hours at the Orsay. Wear comfortable shoes! And don't worry about packing nice clothes for dressing up for dinner because you'll be too tired from a day of sightseeing to even bother :) Take a full english/french dictionary if you have any interest in trying to speak French - the phrase books aren't adequate to get the job done. Sleeping pills really helped me get my sleep cycle reset.

Getaway without the kids
My wife had only one request when choosing a hotel in Paris - that it have a treadmill. This was quite important to my wife as she is training for a marathon. The primary reason we chose the Hotel Jules was to utilize their fitness room [...]. While small, the fitness room had a treadmill that my wife requested. When we arrived the person at the front desk explained that the fitness room was unavailable and had been for some time. He also stated that he was not sure when it would be available again. Needless to say, this did not make my wife happy which in turn did not make me happy and definitely negatively impacted our entire vacation. Therefore we would not recommend this hotel.[...] I could understand this if the fitness room was closed temporarily - a week or two for unforeseen circumstances. However, when discussing this with the front desk person this fitness has been shut for the recent past and will be shut for an indefinite period of time.

Great hotel with fantastic location!!
We got an excellent deal on this hotel through [...] and it proved to be an excellent value. The hotel has an excellent location; 2 blocks from the metro stop and walking to distance to great shopping and tons of restaurants. The room itself is clean and modern. It is small but you have to be prepared for that since that is to be expected in Paris. The front desk staff is very helpful and speak great English. I would recommend asking for a room with a balcony.

Nice Hotel!
Great Hotel. It was clean, had a nice breakfast buffet, and was close to 2 different Metro stations. Great location if you want to go sightseeing. We got to the hotel a few hours early (before check-in time), but the staff still had a room for us and were very friendly. Also the hotel is close to several small supermarkets (great if you're traveling on a budget). Overall this was a great hotel. Although the hotel room is small, that's generally normal for Paris. Besides, my wife and I spent most of our time sightseeing. Our only general complaint is that we wish it were a little more affordable to eat out in Paris. Besides that, Paris is still a great city, and this was a great hotel.
