NOISY......you will NOT get a goods night's rest

The Noise: This is a hotel located in the Montmarte district of Paris. There are three and four story buildings on both sides of this narrow street.....and therefore all the street noise, cars and especially motor cycles and scooters echo constantly. In addition, there are a couple of small restaurant bars that cater to noisy drinking patrons late into the night.....every night! Rooms on the street side have windows and are not sound insulated. We also had a room next to the front desk in the lobby......here you constantly hear people entering and leaving, and constant conversations. And the rooms are poorly insulated from sounds within the building as well. The Shower: We have traveled extensively through Europe and accustomed to the small European type rooms. However, the shower in this hotel is a "joke"......it is literally 24 inches square, with a plastic shower curtain and a water valve that sticks out about 6inches. (see attached photo) You can imagine what the experience might be when the plastic shower curtain attacks you while you turn.....and then when you bump into the valve handle and get blasted with hot or cold water. We are not large people (5'-7", 160 lbs).....anyone larger would have a real challenge! The Ammenities(?): The bed was comfortable. The one big bonus is that every room has a hot pot with tea and coffee. There is a lift. There is no safe. Wifi internet connection is free....but spotty and annoying (you have to re-log on with extensive usernames and passwords every time you return). Note: I did not see any air conditioning unit. We didn't need it (April)......but can imagine how brutal it could be during the hot season. There is a room that serves breakfast for 12 euros. But there are plenty of restaurants and fast food service (McDonalds, Burger King, etc.) within five min walk. Also in the vicinity are shops, grocery stores, and sit down restaurants. The Metro: The nearest Metro station (Place de Clichy - Line 2) is a five minute walk. All major Paris sites are accessible from the Metro. The Staff: Friendly and helpful. The Cost: We paid $111./per night. Although we had to pay at time of booking, we had the option to cancel up to a few days before travel. We thought the price was reasonable, but had we know about the noise and shower, we certainly would have picked somewhere else or paid more. I hope this review was helpful to you. I suppose if you wore ear plugs, turned off your hearing aid, and didn't need a shower......this could be just what you wanted.

Great spot for budget Paris

Let's be honest. It's almost impossible to do Paris on a budget. But this hotel ticked all the boxes in terms of great value for money. The location is spot on, close to Montmarte and with a Metro station pretty much at the end of the street. The decor and amenities are very basic, but if you don't plan to spend much time in your hotel and you want somewhere cheap, cheerful and clean then this is the place. Having said all of the above, the thing that really made this hotel stand out for us was the staff. They could not have been more friendly and helpful - going the extra mile to give great service. For example, on the second day of the trip it was pouring with rain and there were no local shops open for me to buy an umbrella as it was Sunday. The lady on reception offered to lend me her own personal umbrella, stating that as long as I returned it by 7pm when her shift finished I was welcome to it. Now that's service!

Book online for prior to your trip for attractions such as the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower to avoid queuing for hours during your holiday. It was frustrating to see people who had taken the initiative to pre-book their tickets, walk straight into the Louvre when we'd queued in the rain for 90 minutes!!

Nice Place just off Place de Clichy

First off, the hotel staff here are very friendly and helpful. I stayed on the ground floor (RdeC) so street noise was a concern going in. Fortunately, it wasn't bad at all. The street is lightly traveled by cars and there was an automatic, metallic roll-down screen that supplemented the thick window glass to keep noise out from the many pedestrians outside. The room was small and the double bed was two singles pushed together. That said, the bed was comfortable. I'd stay here again under the right circumstances.

Avoid the fast food in Place de Clichy. There are plenty of corner bistro restaurants instead.

Great location to see Paris

Perfect location right in the heart of Montmatre and right next to the Place de Clichy Metro station. There is plenty to see and do in the immediate area and it was very easy to take a walk to the Sacré-Cœur Basilica. Staff are very friendly and willing to help. Rooms are small and the bathrooms even smaller but if you're just looking for somewhere to sleep and wash you really couldn't ask for more. We stayed in January and the rooms were kept lovely and warm. Great value for money!

3 nights in Paris with teenage daughter

This hotel was in an excellent location for getting around the city. Metro st cliche is a 2 min walk from hotel. Staff were really helpful and polite and spoke English. Room was basic but comfortable and clean. Rooms were a little close to each other. Our room faced a narrow street which was romantic and Paris like but noise from other residents in neighborhood echoed. Small bar a few doors down was a little noisy but not a big disturbance. Felt really safe in area. Plenty of places to eat. Would stay there again. Good value for an expensive city
