Convenient

Good hotel in Paris near the Eiffel tower at reasonable price. Good: - Easy access - Residential location Not so good: - One of the two elevators out of service - Garage is available but very challenging - narrow but not unusual in Paris - We were on the 6th floor and the AC wasn't working properly - room was too hot.

Really nice hotel

We were in Paris to do a little more exploring of areas and museums we haven't visited previously. My wife and I stayed at this hotel 4/20/13 - 4/24/13. We chose it because we had stayed at it a couple of years ago and really liked it. In the interim it has been upgraded from 3* to 4*, which, compared to 3* hotels we've stayed in previously in Paris and Rome, was highly justified. The hotel is clean and modern and has free, fast Internet service. Most of the desk staff speak more English than we speak French and are friendly enough. Like last time we stayed here, we didn't take advantage of the breakfast or bar service. Instead, every morning we just walked one block over to Rue de Versailles to the Les Sondes restaurant and ate a pastry and drank coffee and orange juice, which is plenty for us, and for half the price as the hotel breakfast. We would also recommend Les Sondes for dinner, even though several other restaurants have popped up nearby since a couple of years ago. We didn't eat at any of them, but they might be worth checking out. We really like the food and service at Les Sondes and the people watching is excellent. The hotel location is convenient enough. It's about 1.5 miles from the Eiffel Tower, which means that if you're on foot you've got a 3.0 mile walk roundtrip before you ever walk to anywhere else from there. (Our usual routine is to walk to the Eiffel Tower after breakfast and then branch out from there to places we want to visit.) If you're not into walking, there are two other excellent options close to the hotel. You can get on the #72 bus on Rue de Versailles just a block from the hotel. It goes right along the Seine River all the way down to the Hotel de Ville, with stops at the Louvre, Trocadero, and other locations along the way. Once you get to the Hotel de Ville, you can catch buses to other parts of the city. If your feet tired, you can also catch it back to the hotel. This time we also used the BotaBus, which is a hop on, hop off water taxi service that starts at the Eiffel Tower, goes upriver to the Jardine des Plantes with several stops at places along the left bank, and then loops back around I'le St. Louis with several stops along the right bank on the way back to the Eiffel Tower. We bought a two-day pass for 21 euros each, which is more expensive than riding the bus, but it does give you a different view of the city, especially if you take the round-trip boat that leaves the Eiffel Tower at 9:30 p.m. There's also a large FranPrix grocery store half way between the hotel and Rue de Versailles which is really convenient to the hotel if you need to pick up something to eat or drink or for a picnic.

Dining tip: Long walk from hotel

Take the Botabus to the Jardine des Plantes, get off and cross the river on the bridge just upstream. Walk straight ahead to the start of the Canal St. Martin, which is a boat marina/park. After a short distance it goes underground under the Place de Bastille. If you're into walking some more, keep walking up the street. You'll eventually get to the Place de Bastille where there are some sidewalk cafes. Keep walking. eventually you'll get to where the canal re-emerges. (Along the way where the canal is below street level, there is a wide esplanade which is good for people watching.) After the canal re-emerges you can walk on up to La Villette. We didn't make it up all the way to there, but it's supposed to be a nice area with restaurants, night life, and shopping. There's also a company that has cruise excursions that go up the Seine from near the Musee de O'rsay and then up the St. Martin Canal to La Villette, but we didn't do it this time; maybe next time.

not worth the value

don't fool by looking at the pictures. Hotel is old and not clean. We reserved a room with a double bed and a twin bed. However, they gave us the room with 2 twin beds and extra bed. The mattress is old and not comfortable. The hotel we booked in London much better and we only paid half the price compared to Paris.

Great location.

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. It was my first time in Paris, and the location made it a wonderful trip. It has subway access in a close walking distance for visiting pretty much anywhere in Paris. The rooms were clean, beds and sheets were comfortable (I believe 400+ thread cotton), house keeping did a good job everyday. Staff was responsive and kind. Hotel had a very fast free wi-fi. Buffet breakfast was very limited in terms of variety but besides that it was a very good overall experience. I would recommend the Hotel (for the right price) to every fellow traveler.

Perfect Hotel for Me!

Facility, Location, and Staff are excellent. Stations for three different Metro lines are within a short walk. Eiffel Tower is a brief walk along the river. This is a residential area with apartments, grocery stores, cafes and pharmacies. Eat and shop with the locals, not the tourists. Cab fare to or from CDG airport is about 55 Euros. Staff is friendly and helpful. I will be back!

Friendly Staff, Dingy Hotel

My fiance and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and found it comfortable and in an extremely convenient location, but did not find the hotel special in the least. The staff was helpful and courteous, but there were a number of things that could have been improved upon. The most egregious problem was an enormous stain outside of our room door that appeared to be blood. Sure, it could have been Merlot, but why did it appear to be seeping out of the wall? The room itself was comfortable and clean enough, but the breakfast was very expensive for an unimpressive selection. Fortunately, there is a supermarket right across the street and there are a number of good restaurants nearby. Not the worst hotel we've stayed in, but definitely not worth the price.
