Excellent choice for main Paris sites
Although the room is far smaller than US standards, the hotel is very clean, the staff are very friendly, and the St. Lazare train station is right across the street-- a great convenience. The hotel also provides breakfast for patrons for 10euros per day, per guest. Many of the sites are within walking distance from the hotel-- cabbing it is not necessary. Just bring/wear comfortable shoes. The concierge was very helpful for first time European travelers. I intend to stay here again when I return to Paris.

Short walk from hotel
I highly recommend doing a city bus tour for the first day so that you can get accustomed to where everything is. Most of the famous attractions are really within walking distance. Most importantly beware of pickpockets!!!

After seeing the condition of the hotel lobby maybe it was an act of God that kept us from wishing we never stayed there.Our plane was canceled due to weather.

Good value and location for short stays
Room and bath were small with few amenities (both typical in my experience for Paris value hotels) but very clean, comfortable, good bed, friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast for 10 Euro, and very convenient to metro, bus, and rail transportation ( right by Gare St. Lazare). Bustling neighborhood, easy walk to Pl Clichy, Montmartre, Opera, Madeleine, Bd. Haussmann.

Location, Location.....
I spent 4 nights at this little reasonable priced hotel and can report only good things: location is great, walking to major attraction is easy, metro, busses, train all close by. Room and bathroom were very clean and quiet. Personnel was friendly and very helpful. Missed an english speaking channel ....

We were a party of 10 and, from the moment we arrived at reception, we ALL rated this hotel as excellent. We could not fault it; the cleanliness, service, helpfulness of staff deserve an A*. It's position in the centre of Paris, close to Opera, added to our enjoyment. Well done and congratulations to everyone at Austins Saint Lazare. I would never wish to stay anywhere else!!

The hotel is small and the room
The hotel is small and the room was not a particularly generous size - as Paris hotels generally are not - unless you go 5 star with prices to match. However it served our purpose more than adequately. The room and ensuite shower were clean with some toiletries supplied. The breakfast was simple - not cooked, but adequate Continental. The lift is tiny, but better than none at all. We found the Reception staff friendly and helpful. The location was central to our needs, right next to the Gare St Lazare and with a Metro station close by. Buses went right past the door and were frequent. We were at a room overlooking the street which was not particularly noisy at all. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance as well as Printemps and LaFayette shopping emporiums.

No problem with language as English
No problem with language as English was spoken at the front desk. Would happily go back to a Austins hotel. Reception and dining staff were most helpful.
