Grand Hotel Francais

The Hotel was clean and nice. The staff was great and very accommodating. The room was great and nicely decorated and compact ... but not to small. The location was a little off the beaten path but that was nice being out of tourist central and more local in nature. Besides the metro was less then 100 feet from the hotel and access to all the areas of Paris was easy. I would recommend this hotel to any one who wants a good hotel at a good price. We spent 10 days with them and felt like family.

Good dinning options in the neighborhood and reasonable for Paris. The hotel has a list of great restuarants. A great bread and pastry shop was just across the street. The area was mostly local in nature with small local markets, butcher, and bars/cafes on the block and was a short walk to Place du Nation where there was several more options for bar/pub/cafe evening activities.

I've been to Paris many times on business and plesure, and I will stay here again, not walking distance to big tourist ... attractions but easily accessable on the Metro. Still the area is full of charater, good eating and interesting attracitons. Besides you see Paris from the street not staying in the Hotel room.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. It is very close to several metro stops, just a few minutes to all the big tourist ... sights. The italian restaurant next door is fantastic and the owner is very nice! The hotel staff was very helpful, and our room was always spotless. We will stay here again!

For the best dining, take the Metro to the Marais or the Latin Quarter. The restaurants around the Place de la Nation were just so-so.

Modern hotel with great amenities
A Paris first-timer Sep 17, 2009
It was our first time to France, and we appreciated the friendly welcome from the English-speaking staff and the super-clean ... room with great amenities. Pluses: * Clean and modern room * Powerful shower with multiple heads that offer a full-body massage * Good neighborhood (Place de la Nation on the right bank, east of the Bastille) with several grocery stores and cafes Minuses * A little far from tourist sights - need to take 20+ minute Metro rides to get to Louvre, Eiffel Tower, etc; not hard, just takes time away from sight-seeing

Fantastic Stay!!!!
Engaged In Paris Sep 14, 2009
The Grand Hotel Francais was super close to transportation making it easy to get to the attractions that Paris has to offer! ... The staff was super friendly and always willing to help you! There are many great bakeries in the area for breakfast, which was a cheap alternative and tasty to many Paris prices. Also, there are markets near by where you can purchase cheap drinks (Paris is pricey). The rooms were fantastic! Clean and comfortable. I was upgraded upon arrival and pleased with my stay.

Great Location for the price
Sweet honey Jun 2, 2009
I really liked the hotel that we stayed at. The front desk was very helpful and friendly. They spoke good english. The ... metro was not a minute's walk away from the hotel so it made traveling around paris easier because there's no way you can get lost finding your way back to the hotel once you set off on exploring paris. The only thing I really didn't like was how small the rooms were. It was definately cramped. But the room was spotless and it was relatively always quiet so I always had an easy time sleeping.

Great city, not so great people
Dina Mar 9, 2009
I was on a week long tour of Europe, and Paris was one of our stops. We booked this hotel because the reviews written on here ... were favorable. The location is wonderful, it is only about a half a block from a Metro stop. The staff gave us some trouble when we got there, however, because we had one extra person with us. We had originally booked the room for two people and were planning on using a cot, but they informed us this would not be possible. Understandable, because rules are rules, but we were charged a very large amount of money for the upgrade we were forced to get! The rooms were clean but very very small, as were the bathrooms. I'd recommend this if you don't plan on being in the room for much time.
