Sophisticated rooms on the Place de la Nation
From its striking historical façade to its modern interior, Grand Hotel Francais is a marriage of old and new Paris. The boutique property on Place de la Nation appears to be vintage inside and out, but the sleek furniture and technological updates in rooms--especially the hydro jet showers--indicate the hotel has kept up with the times. A daily buffet covers quintessential French breakfast favorites, including pain au chocolat and croissants.
Rooms
A sleek urban look characterizes rooms at Grand Hotel Francais, which favor dark wood furniture, oversized prints on drapes and structured sconces. Framed prints of New York landmarks--like Grand Central Station--play up the metropolitan aesthetic, which contrasts with the building's vintage façade. Of particular interest are the spa-quality bathrooms that incorporate sandstone, stainless steel hydro jet shower heads and bowl sinks. Basics cover free Wi-Fi, soft slippers, mini bar with free soft drinks and air conditioning.

Best bang for buck
Stayed here to two weeks in early November. Staff is helpful and accommodating. Located near a couple of metro stations make it easily accessible. Far enough from the heart of Paris to avoid the crowds but a quick metro ride to visit the main tourist attractions. Would definitely stay here again in the future. Close to a couple of BNP Paribas ATMs which are associated with BofA for a 1% ATM fee vs STD 3% with credit cards. Only drawback was spotty wifi which is free.

Extremely Guest Friendly Hotel
As non-French-speaking persons, the wife and I were most fortunate in booking this hotel for a four-night stay. Every front-desk staff/management person not only spoke English, but were greatly knowledgeable on where to dine, how to travel(Metro, Line 1 gets you to city center), what time to leave for the airport, how to best see the city (Hop On - Hop On Bus is the best). Our room was most adequate and offered first-class accomodations with daily maid service. The area is a twenty minute walk from Bastille Plaza and 10 minutes Nations Plaza. Walking around the area is a delight. Suggetion for those wanting out of the noise and congestion of city center: stay here.

Great choice
Went site unseen but once there was made to feel very comfortable mainly due to Zyad. He was very informative, ie. referring us to good restaurants, suggesting things to do and giving great directions on how to get there. Woul d strongly recommend this place since although it is out of the hubbub of Paris (making it easier to sleep), it was only 2-3 blocks to the Metro, close to great pastry shops and even a grocery store with a decent selection of wine.

Short walk from hotel
Buy Metro tickets to get practically anywhere even to Versailles. Buy tickets for the Hop Off/Hop On bus/boat to tour the city on your own.

Perfect place to stay
This was our first trip to Paris and we did a great deal of research before deciding where to stay. We really wanted to get an experience we couldn't get elsewhere. A boutique hotel was our only choice. Not too many amenities but if we wanted to stay at an Intercontinental, we might as well have just gone to Miami. This hotel was absolutely perfect. The room was very small but we only slept there. Who wants to hang out in their room in Paris? The staff was fabulous. Very courtious, extremely helpful and if you don't speak French, they speak English. We absolutely loved them. The hotel has been renovated and so the rooms were clean with great plumbing and heat/air. The Metro to get you to central Paris was only 50 meters away from the front door with a major junction only a couple hundred meters away for off the path excursions. We loved the neighborhood atmosphere and even ate at a neighborhood restaurant that was way off the beaten path. It was filled with locals and we could tell they didn't get too many tourists, if any at all. We had a great time mingling, struggling with our French as they struggled with their English. We met in the middle somewhere and it was one of the best nights and best meals we had in Paris. As authentic as it gets. We couldn't have had that experience in one of the tourist area hotels. If you are like us and don't want the same old same old, or don't want to stay with everyone else from America, we highly recommend this hotel.

Grand Hotel Francais
In Paris to run the Paris marathon in April. We were looking for an econimical hotel that would be clean and located near a metro. The Grand Hotel Francais was all that. Sure the rooms are small but it's Europe and Paris and you don't get large rooms on a budget. The room at the hotel was very adequate, well maintained and the bathroom was true to European standards, all tile and modern. Servie at the hotel was excellent from pre-check in since we arrived early, the staff lockered our bags. The staff took and interest in our daily life, gave accurate advice about navagating locally and worked hard to do confirm our flights at departure. This hotel is less than 100m from a metro stop and just an 8 minute walk from a major metro hub. The neighborhood was very safe and had a good selection of services including a grocery chain, a delightful patisserie, a wine shop, etc. The area food selection wasn't too great and many local restaurants didn't cook on premises. But we usually ate in other districts. This hotel was an excellent choice for us and the price was right. We used a 5 Paris Vistors metro pass that cost 29euros each but offered unlimited use of the metros and buses.

Good hotel
The owner was very friendly and the room was clean and quite nice, although a little small. The location is near a metro stop, but a fairly long walk from the center of Paris. Quite a nice hotel.

Newly renovated, great staff
Easy to get to hotel from CDG via the metro. Hotel was about .3 of a mile from the Nation metro stop, a major stop. Not close to the major tourist sites but easy to get to them via metro. Lots of bakeries and small restaurants on the street. In a safe area. Staff was very friendly, spoke English and was eager to help. Just great people! Rooms were small but clean, newly renovated and quite classy. Shower was glorious! Color scheme was even inviting. Elevator in the building. Plush towels.
