April in Paris
Nice smooth check in, front desk person helped us in English. Elevator to 5th floor for a delightful room, very clean in every aspect. Double window looked out over the street below. No traffic noise since the street is pedestrian only. Free Wi-fi. Expect your Paris room to be smaller than any US hotel, the double bed takes up about half the floor space, but we tucked things into the closet & corners and there was plenty of room. We opted to eat breakfast at sidewalk and museam cafes, so can't comment on the hotel's continental breakfast. This hotel is on the Left Bank, easy walk to the Louvre, Musee D'Orsay, Notre Dame cathedral, plus all the action on St. Germain. Lots of people noises from the cafes on the street below from 6 PM until 2 am, but we were exhausted and slept right through it with the windows wide open all night.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
Musee D'Orsay is a 10 minute walk. We went there early and had coffee and pastries in their cafe. It cost no more than the hotel's breakfast and got our day off to a great start.

Perfect location
We had three full sight-seeing days in Paris, and this hotel was the perfect location. It was within ten minutes walking distance of the Louvre, Notre Dame, Luxembourg Gardens, and other spots we probably missed out on. The Odeon Metro Station was just around the corner as well. There were plenty of restaurants, cafes, and shops right outside the hotel as well. While much of the city slumbers on Sundays, the Latin Quarter is half-awake on Sunday (meaning some stores and clothing shops are still open) if you are looking for things to do. By U.S. standards, the hotel room is extremely small but very clean and charming. If you open up the window, expect noise (but you are in the city, after all). Bathroom looked to be recently renovated. Front desk staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We did not try the American style breakfast at an extra fee, but it looked nice to me. Free newspapers in the lobby.

Before arriving in France, learn the proper phrase for asking for tap water in restaurants; the phrase will save you tons of money.

Worked Out Well
The hotel is located on Rue Gregoire de Tours, a very narrow street, sufficiently away from Blvd. St. Germain so that traffic noise is not a problem. Blvd. St. Germain is also close enough, though, that you can take advantage of all the restaurants, etc., it has to offer. The hotel is in a great place, close to everything, but not affected by the noise, etc., which that usually entails. It is about a 10 minute walk from the hotel to the Louvre, which is great. It is also very close to the St. Germain des Pres Metro Stop. The room I had was only for myself, and, while it was a little on the small side, it was more than sufficient. The decor was nice (done in the style, it appeared, of 1900's Paris), and the bathroom appeared to have been recently renovated. The shower, tub, toilet, and sink were all new and clean, which I appreciated (having recently gone to London and having had some issues with the bathroom at my hotel there). It was a good hotel at which to stay while in Paris, and I would certainly consider staying there again.

Best Western De L'Univers
Great location in the left bank of Paris, Louvre in the walking distance via beautiful area of the city. Hotel was built in 15-th century, clean and nice, real french style. Great for romantic week-end.

Small disappointments
I chose this hotel in part because the website description stated that a fitness center or room was available either within the hotel or nearby. In reality, there is none, and the cheerful front desk was only able to point on the map to a place approximately one mile away where, they suggested uncertainly, a public gym might be available for a daily fee. They did not know the name of the facility or how much it would cost. By the way, the photo of the interior reception of the hotel must have been taken years ago, before the installation of the elevator. The photo evokes a grand staircase which does not exist today. This is a pleasant hotel, but the photos overstate its elegance.

Short walk from hotel
A delightful stationery store is steps away down the street, where you can find notebooks and pads of paper and writing instruments that can be great souvenirs of your trip to France.

A lover of Paris
Wonderful location
It is a wonderful location, near the action and near the metro and RER...plus buses that travel along the Blvd St. Germain. We found the breakfast good but too pricey as we did not need a full breakfast.[...] Basically we have stayed there many times and love it.

Lovely hotel in prime location
Lovely, quaint hotel - prime location in St. Germain area. Not for you if you need complete silence. The hotel itself was quiet, but it is close to cafes and restaurants that can be heard late at night. Loved the full American breakfast and stylish, streamlined room decor.

Paris - St. Germain
[...] at the front desk was very helpful. My room was ready at 9am, which is almost unheard of. The rooms are (as is typical), very small, but pretty, neat and clean. The immediate area around the hotel is very lively, with many excellent cafes, restaurants and bars nearby. The location was perfect, and not too noisy.
