I'm sure there are worse places to stay
The hotel (like many others that I have read about) was older and not terribly well kept. The mattress was dirty (stained) and uncomfortable based on normal "4-Star" standards. The room was very small (not much room for anything other than the full sized bed) and bathroom needed some TLC (the toilet was not bolted to the floor and the tub would not drain). For the price, it left a lot to be desired. (In the States this would be a 2-Star, $39.99/night hotel at best.) That said, the location was more on the positive side...roughly a 1/4 mile from the Metro and a mile from the Arc de Triomph. The neighborhood was fairly quiet and non "touristy" giving more of a local Parisian feel.

Be sure to understand the differences between the RER and the Metro when planning your outings into the city. We found ourselves a bit stranded at the Eiffel Tower late in the evening when the RER was not running with frequency.

Great Location and Price
Great location, 10 to 20 minute walk from many attractions of Paris. A few blocks away from the Metro system which will get you anywhere in Paris you want to see, at the same time we were on a very quiet, safe street where we could easily walk day or night with the feeling of residential neighborhood. Would return and hope the staff was the same they became friends with their knowledge of the city and friendly smile.

Overall a very good hotel. Just
Overall a very good hotel. Just a few minutes from the metro so quick and easy to move around the city. The decor was a bit dated but traditional French so I am told. Bed was comfortable and plenty of products in the bathroom. The only real downsides were no tea making facilities, only one English tv channel and breakfast was ridiculously expensive. There are plenty of cafes nearby for breakfast and there is a monoprix supermarket very close to purchase drinks and snacks cheaply.

Amarante Arc de Triomphe
The hotel overall was great. The street was incredibly quiet at night and we rarely heard the guests in other rooms. I agree with the other reviews that it wasn't quite a 4-star, but we anticipated this going in and weren't really looking for that nice of a hotel. More of a 3-star hotel. The concierge was very pleasant and spoke English when we arrived and allowed us to check-in early (2PM, 3PM check-in). When we were checking out and the elevator was out-of-service because they were switching out the carpet, it would've been nice if they had offered to help us carry some of our luggage down the stairs. We did not try the breakfast and we were comfortable with venturing out around the neighborhood and we're glad we did. If you take a left leaving the hotel, immediate right and immediate left into the Marchel Juin square (Perriere Metro stop) there are several shops along the way, including a bakery, wine shop, cheese shop and Monoprix, a grocery store for cheap snacks, wine, beer, cookies, etc. which also make good gifts. The Perriere Metro stop is 2-3 minutes away in the Marchel Juin square. The Arc is a 10-minute walk and the Eiffel Tower is about 20 minutes. Otherwise the metro stop gets you to all the hot spots with 2 line-switches at the most. Rue de Neil and Mac Mahon, the main streets that lead you down to the Arc, have some good shops and restaurants, but it seems to be a lower-key area in general, but you have to try the Aux Armes de Neil bakery, just around the corner from the hotel and across Neil. The staff is incredibly friendly, speak enough English, and the food was amazing! Bacinos was our favorite restaurant, again, great food, very friendly and attentive staff that spoke very good English, and THE best creme brulee we've ever eaten! Go left out of hotel, immediate right and it's on the right. Prices in this area were reasonable for the area, but Monoprix was a nice "financial" break at times, and we still got to sample French wine, bread, jam and cheese in our hotel room as a snack or as a nightcap, which meant not having to give in to paying for the room's mini-bar. If you depend on hotel staff for a lot of direction and information, or spend a lot of time in your hotel, this might not be the place for you. It was a very nice hotel and the staff was very friendly and we would absolutely stay here again!

Quiet hotel in very good location.
I could walk almost anywhere from this hotel, but it was still very easily accessible by car. Although they clearly don't expect tourists to arrive by car, charging 18 Euro a day for parking. If you want to get anywhere Avenue de Wagram is your key to getting to Arch (top of Chaps Elysses) and the rest is easy walk. There is no much to say about the hotel. Its small, cheap and staff friendly.

Just make sure you get some drink outside a restaurant. You can easily get charged 14 Euro for glass of Orange juice and two large glasses of coke will cost you more than steak dinner. It's nothing to get upset about. That's just how it is around there. Be prepared to deal with it.
