Locarno

The Locarno is not 3 star as claimed. It is old and showing its age. The lights in the bathroom (or more acurately bath cupboard) didn't work and neither did the front of house staff. It is quite a way from the centre of Nice but reasonably close to the beach. During the day the area looks OK but after dark the area is quite seedy.

Finding a place to park near to the hotel was always difficult, we often had to park far away in public spaces along the road as the hotel offers no parking. A hairdryer in the room would also have been nice, otherwise I don't really have any complaints.

We recommend this hotel for a short stay in Nice. Not far from the center and from the beach, but the room was very small and only average what it comes to cleanliness. You can get much better value for your money in an other hotel if you pay just a little bit more.

The hotel is about a 2 minute walk from the beach, which is about the only positive thing to write about. The entire stretch of beach is evenly "popular", so apart from the fact that the centre beach is about 5 minutes walk, the beach at the hotel is pretty close.I suppose you pay for what you get. This was one of the cheapest options on [...] and thats why I took it. I would rate it 2 starts only, though this is not my job.The staff were OK. The checkin lady could not speak English so this was a bit of a struggle. The Breakfast was only a dry baguette, a croissant and french bun, served with tee/coffee. Sorry, there was some yoghurt and bran flakes too. I suppose the room was clean, just old brown linen. The TV had a full 4 channels. Bathroom was clean, not the type of place to take a long relaxing bath after a long trip. Lucky for some, there are prostitutes right at the hotel entrance from nightfall. They were not too noisy, but our balcony was a bit close to the ground floor.Not knowing the price of other hotels in the area, I would not rate this place. Rather pay 10-15% more and get something you will enjoy.

Very pleasant hotel in a very nice location. Internet booking price was very good for Nice. I had a front room, so it was of good size but there was no bathroom, you step right into the room from your shower (there is a shower door, though). I stayed alone, so it wasn't a problem for me, but it might be, if you are sharing a room with a friend. The rooms at the back might not be as good as mine was. WiFi was working on the ground floor only and it was free.

It was a real pleasure staying at this hotel.Very clean,very pleasant,a real delight.

The hotel room was spacious and was the largest we encountered in France. The room appeared well used and could do with a thorough clean as Air vents on the walls were blocked with dust and the carpet had lots of stains. The bed and mattress needed replacing as It was sagging badly to the centre. The wifi access was terrible. You can only access it from the reception area and it continually cuts you off. Everyone had major problems with the wifi. Staff were very pleasant and helpful at all times. Location is good. Can catch a bus to train station from right outside. Beach is close by. Various shops close by. There is NO parking. If you are lucky there is room on footpath to stop a car to unload bags. Hotel has a reasonable size lift and stairs so is easy to get about. Overall if they changed the bed and fixed wifi then would have no problem recommending to anyone.

Good location near the beach. Not that close to the train station and mian sites.

was dessapointed with my room at first.carpet was smelly-like wet dog,shelfs in wordrobe was with dusts,windows were so small. but in the end we desided that it was not to bad for that price and staff was friendly as well.location wery good.stairs in corridor up to our room was so narrow! but after long walkings arround beutifull Nice we were happy to get back in our room and sleep on nice clean sheets(they really were white and clean) :) next time i would choose some another hotel anyway.

We have stayed in Locarno twice in about 6 months and we would certainly go back again. We walked from the airport which proved to be a really relaxing hour. The room was cleam and had everything we needed. Les Baumettes is really central - close to bus stops and beach. Train station not too far away. Plenty of places to eat locally eg Shanghai Restaurant. Go and try it.
