Comfortable, renovated hotel near the beach
The 3-star Grand Hotel Le Florence is located in the heart of Nice, on a quiet pedestrian street, close to the Old Town, the Flower Market, and numerous beaches. The Acropolis convention center is only a 15-minute walk, or 5 minutes by tramway. The hotel offers a full breakfast buffet every morning in a cheerful dining room or guests can have a continental breakfast brought to their room. The hotel has free Wi-Fi, a bar, a business center, and meeting/banquet facilities.

Nice birthday trip
Well located, quiet but very central. Very friendly staff. Room not palatial but perfectly adequate with everything we needed. Breakfast pretty basic - but easily skipped because there are places nearby. We would definitely stay there again.

The hotel is in a wonderful location
The hotel is in a wonderful location - just off the main shopping area. We only had a 2 night stopover in Nice but thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We thought the Hotel was good value for the price and would stay there again.

Excellent location (one cannot expect any better in the center of Nice), clean and peaceful room, friendly staff - one of them even spoke some Finnish :-) The only minor but of course a rather important issue were the pillows which were clearly too thick and hard and therefore at least for us impossible to sleep on. Anyway, the hotel can be highly recommened and we hope to stay there again.

Rooms adequately sized, but over
Rooms adequately sized, but over sized and unecessary furniture made the room cramped. Downstairs there was a strong smell of "drains", which may be a tempoarary problem. Good location and friendly staff.

Staff very helpful and pleasant.
Staff very helpful and pleasant. Young man seemed to be covering everything and very busy but was very apologetic for keeping us waiting. Quiet pedestrian street and handy to rail station. Thin walls as we could hear every word from next door.

Close-ish to train station but
Close-ish to train station but extremely close to centre of town and the beach. staff were friendly. No fridge. Shower head didn't stay put so bathroom floor flooded easily. Great signage so very easy to locate. They add on a local tax so that was a bit of a surprise at checkout.

Would look for a better hotel
We spent 5 days in Nice (June 2009) and found the Grand Hotel Le Florence to be well situated (off of Ave. Medicin which is the main shopping street in town) and very short walk to Place Massena. The location is very good. However, the hotel itself is small and dingy and does not feel clean. There were ants crawling in my bathroom. The hotel only has cleaning staff in the morning. So on the days that we decided to sleep in after staying up the previous night, we would be told that we wouldn't have our rooms cleaned that day because the cleaning staff isn't around anymore. THe thin walls makes vacuum noises and housekeeping activities extremely disruptive to those who are not up by 9AM in the morning. Even on days when housekeeping was performed, the cleaning lady did not provide new soap/shampoo for 2 of the days. The front desk is not as helpful as can be. There is one guy who is very nice, but the other 3 receptionists who takes different shifts during the day are impatient and doesn't seem that knowledgeable about the area. Defintiely NOT a subsitute for a hotel concierge. For the price you're paying, I'd stay somewhere else in Nice.
