Modern, business-oriented hotel knows how to have fun
The Goldstar Resort & Suites Nice offers free Wi-Fi, a breakfast buffet, 24-hour front desk, bar, and rooftop activity pavilion with heated swimming pool, spa, sauna, steam room, teak sundeck, fitness center, and terrace with dramatic views. The sleek suites include stone-clad bathrooms and kitchenettes. Nearby is the hotel's private beach, Le Sporting. A lounge off the lobby has a computer and television for the use of guests. Business travelers appreciate a conference room for up to 15 people and a theater that can hold 45 people.

Solid modern hotel
This hotel is close the the Promenade and old town. However it is more functional than French. It is very clean and modern but it does not have much character. The lobby is fairly spartan and there are no gardens or outside breakfast area. One of the best features of the hotel is the rooftop deck/pool but it is small considering the number of guest and chaises are often full. The staff was very helpful and spoke great English. We did not eat in the hotel's restaurant.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
We had dinner at a NYT recommended restaurant Chat Noir Chat Blanc. It is in a dark side street in old town and doesn't look like much but the food was unbelievable. The owner/chef invited our kids into the kitchen to help him cook and he chatted with us forever. A truly special night - both in food and company.

Large room next to noisy restaurant
We were upgraded to the ambassador suite and the room was very large (two large rooms) with a nice kitchenette. It's four blocks from the beach and the associated beach (Sporting: 15€/day) was lovely. Our room was on the 6th floor, where the restaurant is and it was quite noisy at night with a loud oboist until 10 or 11pm. Closing the doors didn't help much. We tried to switch rooms and the helpful staff tried, but was overruled by the boss. We didn't try the restaurant at all. The garage is borderline useless. If you have a large car, it's far too narrow to use comfortably. We tried parking and then gave up and returned the car; they took the charge off the bill. If you have a small car, it's probably fine.
