Clarion Grand Hotel Aston

The hotel looks very nice from the exterior and is located in a great convenient area to everything. The lobby and public areas are reflective of a 4-star hotel. The staff is friendly, attentive and efficient. We arrived around noon and didn't think that our room would be ready, but was informed that it was. It was great to be able to drop our luggage off and start exploring Nice. The only problem we had was that the exterior wall of our hotel room (Room #529) was a little damp and the wall finish was cracked and peeling. I didn't want to touch the walls to check for mold because I was afraid the finish might fall off. There was a pretty strong mildew smell in the room, but when we turned the air-conditioning on and opened the windows the smell would soon dissipate. The walls didn't appear to have signs of any mold visually so we didn't complain and ask for another room, but if we ever stay there again or recommend it to friends, I would definitely request a room that didn't have damp or wet walls. Other than that, the room was roomy by European standards; everything else was clean and worked well. If it wasn't for the smell and the damp walls, the room and and our hotel stay would have been perfect.

Excellent location at the edge of the old town and very handy for the airport bus stop (98). Only a couple of minutes walk from main shopping areas off Place Massena and numerous good restaurants.Good sized room which was very clean. Friendly and helpful staff staff. Only criticisms are in-room wi-fi which appeared to work intermittently and the lifts which were too few for the size of hotel and were slow.

First of all, it can never be a four star hotel even if the building from outside looks nice. I had many problems:- internet doesn't work well especially in the evenings. - TV has 4-5 channels unless you pay money to get more- no iron machine and they can iron the stuff for you but with a very very expensive price. They can lend you one but it never came, and the guy in the reception told me in the phone:'' We don't have an iron machine to lend'' I said but yesterday another woman told me that you can lend one, then he said'' I will give you one this time but this is the lasttime'' Then they never brought it saying that other people took all of the iron machine they have. - I found a small insect in the bed in the first day- The room is not like the one in the photo at all. It has one window that looks at another small building infront of the hotel. No view at all- They have only two elevators and you will you can sleep before you got one. Awful- No fitness center therePlease let me know why I paid that much money, and let me know why it is ranked as a 4 star hotel. [...]

Hotellet hadde bra beligenhet med kort vei (100 m) til promenaden. Rommet var oppusset og veldig delikat, men det var også veldig lytt, spesielt ut mot korridoren. Siden vi hadde valgt dette hotellet på bakgrunn av at der var en takterasse med svømmebasseng, var det derfor en stor nedtur at dette var stengt fordi sesongen ikke var begynt enda. Vi var der i begynnelsen av Mai og det var 25 grader ute og mye sol.
