5-star hotel in Marseilles. The Sofitel Marseille Vieux Port hotel, known as "the best address in Marseilles" thanks to its unique view, is an ideal stopover a short distance from the Château d'If and the Calanques. The new decor of this luxury hotel is inspired by the history of Marseilles and the seafaring world - reminiscent of a sumptuous yacht on the Mediterranean. Be seduced by the magical views of the old port from the Le Carré lounge bar, the Les Trois Forts gourmet restaurant and the new So SPA.

Dining

LES TROIS FORTS
Located on the 7th floor, the view from the Les Trois Forts gastronomic restaurant is simply magical. The chef, D. Frérard, a Master Chef of France, offers "haute couture" Mediterranean cuisine in a modern setting overlooking the sea. Booking recommended.
LE BAR LOUNGE LE CARRE
In this "So Chic So Cool" atmosphere, enjoy Pata Negra (Iberian ham), a blue and white macaron with the flavors of the OM and never-before-seen creations from the barman. On the 3rd floor, the amazing view over the Vieux Port makes this the place to be.

Beach Escape from 10 Days in Paris

This hotel is a destination in itself. It is truly a 5 star hotel, in every aspect. I travelled here with a friend after spending 10 days in Paris. It was more than we could have imagined, in terms of comfort and things to go on the resort grounds. We didn't leave the hotel area much, only to eat at a few bakeries/patisseries, the pharmacy, and the beach, nearby as we were "museum'd out" after Paris. The location in Marseilles, while beautiful was a bit out of the way but actually the only place I'd want to stay. We saw a few other hotels, but the location wasn't in areas, I'd like to stay (safety wise).

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

Find a Market, quickly, especially if you are on a limited budget. The room service was ok, but seriously a side order of French Fries were the US equivalent of $12!! Bring ALOE, if you burn, as it is impossible to find. The breakfast is not worth 26 Euros. It was decent and worth trying once, but go elsewhere.

The "Wish all were like this" Hotel

We visited several cities in our trip, Milan, Genoa, Nice and Barcelona. This was our first stay at a Sofitel and it turn out to be the best hotel of the trip. It is well located, has excellent facilities, unbeatable views and excellent service. The breakfast buffet was again the best of all. We would definetely considered staying at other Sofitel locations.
