In the heart of the city of Marseille, on the Vieux Port (the famous old harbour), the Grand Tonic Hotel Marseille-Vieux Port is a Charming 4 stars Hotel offering 56 all confort Design rooms (Priviledge rooms with view to the sea) ; a bar and a lounge for meetings, bright with day light. The choice of designs in the Tonic Hotel Marseille was made to create a tale. The aim was to express the sea and its "calanques" (local name for creeks) so a delicate play of various tints from clear white to browns, in contrast with the deep blue of a magnificent sea. This whole project was to create a special atmosphere, liquid, very bright, typical of Mediterranean environment. The hotel amenities are: Banquet facilities, bar, business center, concierge, conference facilities, currency exchange, disabled facilities, dry cleaning, internet access-high speed, internet access-wireless, lift/elevator, lobby, non-smoking rooms, pets allowed, reception, the LMB restaurant, room service, safe deposit box, smoke-free hotel.

Dining

Restaurant
The LMB restaurant of Marseille found its way. Opened for 1 year now, the design place of the Vieux Port continues to be inspired by the Mediterranean Sea it is facing. Simplicity and pleasure are still the absolute priorities of the Restaurant, which takes up with the taste of the pure tradition: the Fish soup of the Old Port called Bouillabaisse. Obviously, between Local Fishes and Meats of very high quality, all the tastes will be delighted.

Accidental hotel

A friend and I decided last minute to spend the weekend in Marseille (we live in central France). We booked an apartment to rent online, but the apartment owner had yet to give us the address or the keys as of 19h (7pm) on the day of our arrival, so we decided to book a hotel. Found this hotel online and loved it! very clean and comfortable, and directly in the vieux-port of marseille (30 second walk from the bus stop). highly recommend!

Great location for Marseilles

The hotel was ideally located at the port and was walking distance from many of the sights and plenty good restaurants. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and clean, except the bathroom was strangely located up a few steps. The only negative part of the stay was the shower which leaked and resulted in rust colour water all over the bathroom floor.

Ideal location

I stayed at this hotel with a friend for 3 nights. The location could not be better as it sits right on the Old Port - we had everything that we needed on the doorstep to such an extent that we could easily pop in for a coffee or a rest during the day. There are restaurants and bars to suit all tastes close by. As it is right on the port there are lovely walks to take and it is close to bus stops for both the routine buses and the open top tourist bus and road train. The hotel is not too big so maintains the personal touch and the staff are very helpful and polite and speak excellent English. Breakfast can be taken, for a supplement, but there is plenty to choose from that we found we could have a good breakfast and not need to eat again until the evening. The rooms are big enough and the bathroom really lovely. Given the location there is little noise to be heard outside in the evenings or early mornings. All in all a great place to stay.

Time-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

The bus stops across the road from the hotel to go to the station where the bus or train can be taken to the airport - a saving of several euros on a taxi fare.

not a 4 star even by european standards

i am in france to see more of this region and purchase a small property in Provence and had not been to marseille; marseille will be the big city when i am here.Came in winter to see the worst time of year. Recover from travel before moving to my business part of trip. Hotel in great location for first time highlight type of visit and staff helpful and proper. Good price i suppose. Would be a true bargain if only it were really four stars. Stale smoke odor, smallest room with view of dirty laundry in back. Dirty, dingy carpets in halls and stairwells. Looked in larger room when maid was cleaning and it was not nicer, just larger and had view of port. Bathroom was nicest part of room. Small desk, cheap hard mattress and unfinished drywall around closet. No place to rest and chill, only sleep.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Did the splurge at Une Table Au Sud with wine pairings. Nice, but not memorable and won't return. The bouillabaise milkshake- skip it and go for the real thing elsewhere. will remember the chocolate sphere though, flambe whisky melts it suddenly and there is salted caramel inside. Torrefaccion Noailles cafe is really nice at counter and servers all super friendly. its on Caniebres street.

Clean and right in the center of town and 25 yards from the Metro. Too pricey though for what it is. You're much better finding something on your own like Ibis or Kyriad.

Clean, well situated, not as advertised

Hotel saved the wrong room type for us. After a little negotiation, we got the right room. Hotel is well situated, but much smaller than its advertising pictures would indicate. Breakfast was acceptable in quality, but expensive. We thought next time we would try a different hotel for this price.
