A great hotel, excellent service

A great hotel, excellent service that you expect from the Hilton brand. Helpful staff. Very large rooms. We were treated to an upgrade to an execute room which was fantastic. A little bit out of the city centre, although there is a quick bus service into town and a cab is only 10-15 euros. River view was fantastic. Executive lounge was peaceful and well serviced. Only downside was no swimming pool. Lyon is hot in summer and a pool would have been appreciated. Overall very good.

Hotel with overprice intenet access

Away from the old town so not that convenient for sightseeing. But the hotel itself is very good with very helpful staff that speaks reasonable English. Internet access costs 24 euros per day. Breakfast is also way overpriced at 24 e. You can get a coffee and a sandwitch at a cafe for 5 e right next door.

Renting a bike requires a credit card with a chip. American credit cards do not work. Very frustrating. The same experince in Paris.

The park in the back of the hotel

The park in the back of the hotel was so nice and quiet. Ideal for destressing. In summertime there is only a bbq-menu on thursday and friday in the brasserie of the hotel. Fortunately there are plenty other restaurants in the direct neighbourhood.

An amazing hotel and location!

The Hilton Hotel in Lyon was one of the best overall that we have ever stayed in Europe. The rooms were immaculate and American-sized with Internet, all amenities that we are used to in four-star hotels in American. Our room also had a balcony with two chairs to sit and enjoy the evening breezes. Our balcony overlooked the lake in the Lyon City park which has a zoo (elephants, zebras, lions, bears, etc.) a botanical garden, and a three mile running track and trails surrounding it. The park was incredible--safe, lots of runners (which I am), walkers, strollers with children, and the like The Hilton had its own Brasserie right inside the hotel and I highly recommend that you get the full breakfast package with the hotel room, as it was terrific. We also had an Executive room (not needed to get the balcony but it allowed you to enjoy the Executive Club refreshments including wine, beer, and other gems throughout the day). The staff were fabulous--all spoke English and were extremely helpful, guiding us to the best vineyards in the Beaujelais region as well as the best of the endearing towns along the way. They also helped us take the city bus/metro system, which is accessible just outside the hotel. We were down in the city center in about five minutes via the bus. We then took the metro system to go up the hill to see all of Lyon. Amazing! If you are taking the train to Lyon, then you just reverse what we did to get to the Hilton. In the evening, my husband and I would go to the workout room and jacuzzi to work off the fabulous food of the region. The jacuzzi whirlpool on the 7th floor has huge windows, allowing you to view the city while relaxing in the tub. All in all, you cannot find a nicer hotel anywhere, in our opinion. We spent time at the happy hour time talking to Americans and Europeans who are "regulars," stating that they always come to this hotel when on business or vacation. It is located in the Cite International, which gives you access to the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Interpol, and many restaurants, deli markets, and the like The best of all worlds--enjoy!

We really enjoyed being next to the park--a gem of a place. We would go for a stroll in the evening and sit by the lake; I would get up early and run--just to see them feed the elephants!

The size of the room is better

The size of the room is better than the average French hotels, but the hallway remainded me of the domitory. Hilton Lyon certainly needs to do some make-over. As for the visitors with car, the access from highway is very good. However, if one wants to explore the town center, its location can be disadvantagious.

The hotel staff are very professional

The hotel staff are very professional meeting all of our needs during our stay. Try to get a room that looks out over the park (or leave time to enjoy a walk in the park). This hotel is a bit out of the way from the tourist spots in the city; however, there is a special bus from Part Dieu Station and another bus that runs frequently to Bellecourt Plaza. If you cannot get out to one of the many nice restaurants in Lyon, then the hotel restaurant is nice.
