On a busy road so rooms at the
On a busy road so rooms at the front are noisy, nicer at the back as quieter with a nice view over the rooftops. The corridors are dark with timed lighting. Decoration is looking a bit tired rather like two of the receptionists who couldn't raise a smile. The first receptionist we met though was friendly and helpful.

Super Location, OK Rooms
The Citotel Le Chantry provides basic clean rooms at a fair price. The rooms are somewhat larger than one would expect for a 2 star hotel in Europe (nice), plus the air conditioning works! Breakfast is good and worth the price, given what cafes charge for much less. Le Chantry is just a 10 minute stroll to the historic center of Bordeaux, and there are plenty of restaurants to be found there. Another plus is the excellent bus/tram service in Bordeaux, which allows for easy hotel access from the train station or airport.

Short walk from hotel
Buy a day/multiple day/weekly bus/tram/metro pass immediately upon arrival at either the airport or the train station. It will allow easy access to most hotels, the city center, and is relatively inexpensive (a weekly pass costs approximately 10 euros) and allows unlimited travel on the urban transportation system.

This was the first time that we have stayed at this hotel. It met all our requirements and the room price was very competitive when compared with other 2* hotels in Bordeaux. It was a short walk into the centre of town, but this was offset by the availability of free parking at the hotel and a tram route in an adjacent street. The room was clean and of a reasonable size. Breakfast was standard fair. We would certainly stay there again on visits to Bordeaux.
