The Citotel Le Chantry provides basic clean rooms at a fair price. The rooms are somewhat larger than one would expect for a 2 star hotel in Europe (nice), plus the air conditioning works! Breakfast is good and worth the price, given what cafes
charge for much less. Le Chantry is just a 10 minute stroll to the historic center of Bordeaux, and there are plenty of restaurants to be found there. Another plus is the excellent bus/tram service in Bordeaux, which allows for easy hotel access from the train station or airport.
Hotel features (5 = best, 1 = worst):
Short walk from hotel
Buy a day/multiple day/weekly bus/tram/metro pass immediately upon arrival at either the airport or the train station. It will allow easy access to most hotels, the city center, and is relatively inexpensive (a weekly pass costs approximately 10 euros) and allows unlimited travel on the urban transportation system.
