Short walk from hotel
Old town has many restaurants an enjoyable, 1/2 mile walk through old town. Right next to the Railroad station..or underground parking if you are driving. Print out directions if you are diving into Annecy...it's tricky to find.

Very good modern restaurant, recommended by Michelin guide - and located just in few steps from the hotel - Contresens, 10, Rue de La Poste. Tasty food by reasonable price.

Modern hotel, good location
Hotel is located near the old part of the city, close to attractions, restaurants, and shopping. Rooms are modern and have a kitchen. Shower cabin is a bit "too modern", though. No matter what we tried, water kept leaking on the floor. But otherwise it was very nice. The hotel was surprisingly difficult to find, although I'd blame it on our insufficient preparation. Make sure you get good directions before going there. We didn't have to deal with the staff much, although receptionists were a bit aloof, which seemed to be due to out poor command of French. But nothing that we weren't able to handle. One thing to keep in mind is that you need a card to get into hotel's garage. You get this card right away at the reception, but parking outside is limited. All in all, a good choice.

For travelers looking to save a bit of money on food, I'd recommend using a kitchen in your room. There are some delightful deli stores not far away with excellent prepared food, which will be as French as anything you can find in restaurants, but cheaper. Large selection and helpful staff despite a bit of a language barrier. There's also a supermarket in a shopping complex across the street where one could shop for food.

Staying Adagio Annecy Centre
Upon arrival they put us in a room which was unmade, luckily they immediately changed the room (and upgraded us). The original room had no explicit shower stall, and no bath. The second room had a separate shower and bath. English-speaking TV only BBC. We did not take the breakfast offered by the hotel, got our own. The (upgraded) room was well equipped with crockery and cutlery, cooktop, refrigerator, microwave and sink, but was somewhat short of shelf (storage) space. We did not check, but I do not think they had air conditioning. The location is very central close to bus (from Geneva) and train station to Paris. We walked around town which is nice and compact. We went on a sightseeing motorboat ride for one hour around the lake. Wind came up and we got somewhat wet. We sampled Savoyard cuisine (fondue). Pizza we had was not good. On the other hand scallops were very good. The city was great, the hotel was very good and we are planning to go back for a month.
