Cezanne Hotel

Great hotel and location close to shopping/browsing. Perfect for romantic getaway location in Aix. We had a Jr Suite that provided a nice space with separted bedroom/bathroom areas.

We were upgraded to a junior suite, which was extremely nice. There is free parking in their garage, a definite plus in Aix. The hotel is a short walk to the Cours Mirabeau and the city center. Aix, the home of Cezanne, is pleasant to walk in and has a lively ambience.

The hotel is located within easy walking distance of the Cours Mirabeau, restaurants, and the tourist office. While the rooms are small and the hotel a bit pricey, the excellent location and very friendly and helpful staff more than make the difference.

we were in Aix over Christmas, which is always tricky. some things in town will inevitably be closed, making it a challenge to find restaurants etc.... That being said, the Christmas markets made the visit fun and with suggestions from the hotel staff, we had no trouble finding things to walk to and places to eat. regarding the Cezanne, our overall impression was good - but have a few comments on both sides. downside: the website pictures are a fair representation if you look at them closely. rooms are well decorated but small. we had booked a Jr suite, which was, in fact, the size of most 'normal' hotel rooms - only w/ a larger bath. (included tub and separate shower) the design of the shower may have looked inviting, but it was very difficult to manage turning it on without spraying yourself or soaking the floor around it -- and it was difficult to shampoo hair w/ the 'rainshower' head and no space to move out of it. we weren't thrilled w/ the color of our ORANGE room, but that's more a matter of opinion than anything else. the room design was fairly modern/clean, simple but elegant -- but sofa/chairs weren't particularly comfortable if you wanted to spend any time relaxing in the room. our last 'negative' comment would be regarding the internet. yes, it was free ... but it was incredibly spotty and we were barely able to catch up on Email, Facebook etc... which we needed to do as we were traveling over the holidays and wished to keep in touch with family. we would constantly lose our connection or simply be 'timed out' trying to upload a page. i would have much preferred to pay a little if that would ensure consistent service. on the upside: the staff was extremely pleasant and helpful - everyone we encountered had a smile and offered to assist us with dining suggestions, directions, taxis etc..... LOVED the nespresso coffee service on each floor (but would suggest they add some cream/creamer - even powdered -- for those who don't take their coffee black). the location is excellent - off the main drag, so quiet, but only a few blocks from city center. breakfast is not included, but was in the same price range as most hotels at this level. it is open all morning and the buffet is generous -- and delicious! you can also order many additional items from the friendly breakfast room staff if you desire. (the inclusion of champagne/mimosas was a nice touch!) all in all, we liked the Cezanne and would definitely recommend it - we just would have enjoyed it more if we had not experienced the few issues we mentioned earlier....
