We are going back!

I have been a hotel cleaner and my wife has worked as a receptionist. The room was immaculate the gym was great the sauna was very clean and it was a short walk to everything since Helsinki is so small there really isn't any reason to worry about walking 2 miles to the city center it gave us something to do. The breakfast was good and included don't listen to the other reviews they have really high expectations and probably would complain about everything. Oh and by the way you can take a bus straight there from the airport and the hotel workers know about everything there is to do in Helsinki and they are very helpful!

Comfort at a Distance

This was our first time to Helsinki and wanted to visit several historic churches, the museums and monuments. The Hilton Strand was very comfortable with great breakfast buffet. The immediate neighborhood is barren; about a 10-15 minute walk any restaurants, etc.

Christmas in Helsinki

The Good: They let us check in at 6AM the day we arrived instead of the standard "after 1PM" which was great because we were exhausted after travelling all night from Russia. So really we went to our room at slept until noon so after all it was like having a free night. Good location. The Bad: The room was cool (as in temperature) and had very limited ability to make it warmer. The dial allowed you to change room temperature +/- 2 degrees. It was pretty cool in there the whole time. Also, they charged 10 Euros for the Internet. I was expecting free WiFi.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Bring your own drinks and save yourself some money from using the drinks in the mini bar. There's a supermarket around the corner.

The location is excellent, but

The location is excellent, but breakfast should really be included in the (fairly high) price, since if you buy it at arrival it's 25 euros per person!

This is the best hotel where I

This is the best hotel where I have stayed for a long time. Excellent service and a seaview are the special assets of this 5-star hotel. the only small minus could be for some people the lack of nightly entertainment but even that was an asset in my case.
