great location
First thing about this hotel is the outside look, and the room is quite nice. A bit noisy since it's near the main road. Great location as this is one of the two sites you can get on a airport bus. One thing not quite pleasant is the the bed sheet is stained. Not quite the 4 star hotel in my opinion though.

Monster four star hotel in Helsinki has it all
Mannerheimintie is a major Helsinki artery with excelent tramway service. I visited in winter and arrived too late for the city tour; two hours of tramway fixed this. Two monster hotels sit side by side in Mannerheimintie: the Crowne Plaza and the Scandic. I stayed in the Crowne Plaza, wich has an imponent view, an entire (free for guests) floor with gym, pool, sauna, health shop, etc. The room had everything in it: a safe, minibar, wireless internet, a robe (for the sauna), toiletries, stationery, pens, etc. Buffet breakfast was impressive and you can order your fried eggs to the cook with no extra charge. I made dozens of inqiries to the staff (in winter, after six in the afternoon, it's all dark and very cold, so you shelter in the hotel). They were very helpful and polite. I usually like better smaller hotels, but wouldn't mind to go back to this one again.

Shopping tip:
Short walk from hotel
I love round-the-corner 7-11 type stores for sandwiches, coca-colas, chewing gum, shaving gel, antacids, and the like. Just ask the staff.

Convenient Location and Nice Rooms
The hotel is located very close to the tram line stop and quickly takes you into the heart of Helsinki (i.e., Center City) literally within a couple of minutes. The hotel rooms are very nice. I was pleasantly surprised. Internet speed is good and was complimentary during my stay. The hotel restaurant has a nice breakfast and very good dinner selection. I ate in a couple of times. The FinAir bus to the airport has a pick-up location right across the street and runs every 20 mins. Saved me a lot of money vs a cab ride. Definitely recommend this hotel if you are looking for something very nice, reaonably priced and conveniently located. Front desk staffs' service was not as good as my stay downtown at Hotel Kamp, but everything elase was awesome.

More than satisfactory
Friendly front desk staff, great work out area, prime location next to park. Room itself was on the smaller side. Well-worth the weekend price paid.

Summertime in Helsinki
While visiting Helsinki for a weekend visit you should spend a morning on Suomenlinna Island and Fortress. It is a UNESCO heritage site worthy of spending a morning. There are public and private ferries that go to the island from the Market Square. Also, if you have a car, visit Porvoo, it is one of the oldest towns in Finland, and another UNESCO heritage site. Porvoo is about 35 minutes by car outside of Helsinki. On the long Summer nights, spend an evening after the sun goes down at the Grand Casino Helsinki - the poker is pretty good. The hotel I stayed at was a little bit out of the center of the city, but it was only about a 20 minute walk to the Market Square in Helsinki and about 10 minutes to the Helsinki train station.

Great loccation, relaxing.
Close to town but in quiet location. You can walk to the city or take the tram which you catch right outside the hotel. Excellent location for airport bus which is "the " way to reach the hotel/city from the airport. Clean, comfortable room; attentive knowledgeable staff; and good location make this a good choice to stay Helsinki.

Crowne Plaza exceeded expectations!
I booked my room at Crown Plaza through Orbitz. I was a bit nervous since the online booking did not provide any means for me to state my specific expectations. I was very pleasantly suprised when I discoved at check in that I was getting a junior suite. It turned out to be a great fit for a family travelling with children. The hotel was very clean ans secure. The central location is a key for someone wanting to stay in the center of the town. The public transit and great shopping and restaurants are nearby. This experience topped my previous hotel stays in Helsinki. The only downside was poor service and high prices at the hotel's restaurant Macu. Poor service is common in Finland but I would expect a first rate hotel like this to do much better.

Money-saving tip:
Short walk from hotel
Instead of getting a Helsinki card get a tourist card from HKL (local transit authority). It covers all the local modes of transport and the Suomenlinna ferry. It was a very cost-effective way of getting around time. Also, Stockmann's department store offers an export service to ship all your purchases home and you don't have to pay Finland's high value-added tax (20%).
