Shangri-La's Fijian Resort and Spa

I spent 3 nights at the Shangrila on Yanuca Island. I had seen good reviews on the hotel before booking and only saw negative reviews after I was staying at the hotel. The facility is in need of a refresh but for the price and amenities, was a great value - especially when comparing with other high-end properties nearby - namely the Intercontinental. I was traveling alone and found the room, staff, activities and restaurants suitable for my short stay.

Nice hotel if you want to just relax. There are many children there but they can be avoided - adults only breakfast restaurant, pool. Not a 5 star hotel - needs updating.

Beautiful setting, VERY friendly and helpful staff, good food, pretty nice 9 hole golf course. If you are a scuba diver, you HAVE to dive the Aqua-Tech Shark Dive. Two hour cab ride from hotel, about $70 US, but worth every penny. Definitely try out the Chi Spa: very nice atmosphere and oh so relaxing. Free Internet cafe, all kinds of family and children's activities. Nice beach on Lagoon side.

We enjoyed our holiday overall, yet this isn't a fantastic resort. The adults only pool was great for us and the fine dining restaurant was enjoyable. For families, the attraction of children's activities must be a draw-car. We also enjoyed leisurely breakfasts overlooking the water each day. Whilst a great location, the resort would more correctly be classified as 4 star. Be aware the meals at the restaurants are not cheap and the international buffet at the lagoon terrace restaurant is fairly ordinary, yet comes at $80FJD each. Our room was ok, however there was a flood in recent times and there is still a problem with dampness. Hence, depending on where you are this could be a problem. On balance, we would not return again and have enjoyed far more other true 5 star places.

This is an amazing hotel if you have young kids. My two girls (Miss3 & Miss4) had 6 days of action-packed fun from the moment they awoke to the moment they collapsed. Pools, beaches, kayaks, coconut hunts, fire dancing, kids club and just making lots of other little friends. For mum and dad, there was plenty of relaxing activities too - massage, golf, cocktails by the pool. A lovely location, with lovely people, in an amazing country. We'll definitely be back - Bula Vinaka!

We had a fantastic time at this resort. Let me say from the outset that part of the reason it was so good was that we got a free upgrade to an Ocean Bure. It was the best. As most people say, the Fijian people make Fiji great. This is true of this resort as well. We caught a cab from the airport. It was F$90, cheap and well worth it as we didn't have to wait for other people on a hotel coach. This resort is Western style, so don't expect a piece of Fiji. If you are interested, visit the nearby towns while at the hotel. The food is very Western and somewhat unexciting, but not bad. However breakfast is brilliant. Diving at the reefs off the hotel is pretty average (though I have been to some great diving destinations) but convenient. There is no soft coral in this part of Fiji and the sea life was standard and not that abundant. Would I go back? I would have to say that I would definitely stay at this resort again, but I would have to stay in the Ocean Bure.

Stayed four nights in August, beach good clear water but seaweeds around, pools good. Rooms big but a bit walking distance to the lobby. Good place for families n children. Staff friendly and helpful. Will be back for next trip.

Having recently stayedd at the Shangri La Fijian resort, I feel that the hotel does not live up to the level that you would expect from the Shangri La name or its 4.5 star rating. It is very much a kid orientated hotel and feels a bit crowded and not as relaxing as I have experienced at other hotels on the coral coast. If you are travelling without kids then I would recommend looking at alternatives. Is it bad...No, good....No and would I stay there again...more than likely no.

Lovely location, hotel rooms are a bit tired. Food is very expensive

After doing a lot of research around whether to book our Fiji accommodation at Denarau Island or coral coast, we finally settled for both, with majority of time spent at coral coast (Shangri-la) and couple of days at Sheraton Denarau and I am so glad we chose Shangri-la to spent much of our time in Fiji. Denarau Island and Sheraton Resort is quite beautifully located and resort facilities were top of the range. However the major negative factor for me was a lack of good beach. There's an activity at the Shangri-la resort to cater for all ages and all tastes. Loved to spent most of our time kayaking, swimming, snorkeling, bike riding or just strolling through the beach. There are 3 wonderful pools too. We found staff to be extremely friendly and accommodating of our every small request. It was quite impressive that staff even remembered us by our name and room numbers. Overall our experience at Shangri-la was one of the most relaxing and pleasant stay ever.
