Hotel lobby & restaurants were superb -- none better anywhere. The "business class suite" had a great view of the town from 18th floor corner location, but facilities and furniture reminded me of 1960s motels in America -- but perhaps top rated
for Estonia by comparison to other Estonian accommodations of today. Shower has only half door, not really enclosed at all, so bathroom floor is apparently sprinkled liberally, with a good drain in the floor, as a normal intent there. Bedding is also a bit strange, with either no top sheet or too much padded quilting to use as a top sheet., leading to night sweats or chills. (Obviously just a different European lifestyle that was new to us.) Room service here was absolutely great!!! Otherwise, not luxurious furnishings,, but certainly adequate in all respects and very enjoyable overall.....
Hotel features (5 = best, 1 = worst):
Watch out for taxi rip-offs. Ask in advance about fares, and ask staff or locals about best cab companies. Even the best guys will often take a 'round-about" route to the requested destination in order to drive up the fare. While always foggy and/or lightly raining, most good shops and many tourist stops are well within walking distance. Locals usually walk or ride bus or take a cab. Language in Estonia is no problem, as just about everyone speaks and understands English quite well. Beautiful place to visit, spectacular scenery and history in the area.
