Find comfort and convenience on an island in the River Nile in Cairo
Instead of staying on the banks of the River Nile, stay on an island in the river at the heart of most populous city in Africa. Convenient to much of central Cairo, the President Hotel offers friendly service and comfortable rooms in a unique location. The island of Zamalek sits between the two branches of the River Nile and at the core of downtown, making it an ideal location for sightseeing. Visit the Giza Pyramids and Sphinx, less than an hour away, or explore the surrounding upscale neighborhood for cosmopolitan restaurants, shops and culture.Highlights
- Friendly staff
- Great, central location
- Comfortable, relaxing lounge on site
Rooms
Comfortable rooms at the President Hotel are simply decorated and offer amenities necessary to world travelers. All rooms have air conditioning, televisions with satellite stations, direct international phone lines, radios and minibars. Ask about 24-hour room service and laundry service at the President Hotel.Features
President Hotel guests find friendly, accommodating service, comfortable rooms and a unique view from the vantage of an island in the River Nile. Give the day a sweet start with a pastry from Le Bec Sucre, the on-site and well-loved French bakery. Stop into the Coffee Shop to surf the Internet while sipping a coffee or visit La Terasse for a great meal and beautiful city view.
Many of the best attractions of Cairo are near the President Hotel, including the hanging church, Cairo Tower and the Cairo Opera House. Browsing the market of Khan El-Khalili is a great way to spend the day, especially when it is topped with a great meal at any one of the excellent restaurants in Cairo. Of course no visit to Cairo would be complete without a trip to see the pyramids and Sphinx, just outside the city. At the end of a busy day, catch a soccer match on television or just relax with friends and a cold drink in the Sky Lounge.

Comfortable, quiet and centrally-located
The President Hotel was an ideal affordable home base for exploring Cairo. My room was clean and comfortable, the staff and management were helpful and responsive. Most amenities not available in the hotel were within a few blocks--the Zamalek neighborhood is very accessible and friendly to a non-Arabic-speaking foreign visitor. I would particularly recommend the driver I hired via the hotel, Khaled Abd Rabow, who was extremely punctual and dependable, speaks fluent English and Spanish, and is knowledgeable Egyptology and Egyptian history as well as expert in navigating the complex layout of the city.

Nice stay
This hotel could use some touch ups here and there, but it was clean and quiet. The bathroom had been recently remodeled. The staff, especually [...], was over the top helpful. When I needed a shirt and pants washed, they found a laundary that did a great job in about two hours for under $3. The breakfast was adequate. The taxis were plentiful. I found several interesting restaurants within walking distance. I wish there had been internet in my room. For the cost: not bad at all!

Dissapointing
Stayed here for one night only, after flying in from sharm el shiek, to catch a morning flight from cairo to london. It was dissapointing to say the least. I wasnt expecting 5 star accomodation, but a simple room just to lay our heads down for one night before the flight the next day. What we ended up with was a very run down hotel room. Although the room was nice and big, It was shabby and in need of refurbishment. The room had not been hoovered, the bathroom was damp and smelly, the air conditioning was industrial sized but gave out damp warm air. There were cockroaches in the bathroom. The towels were used and had marks on them. But the icing on the cake was that the bed sheets had not been changed. They just made the bed up with old sheets, covered in hairs and other marks. In the morning, we went for breakfast only to find litte hot food. Only a couple of the tables were set, and all the guests were hunting around for coffee cups and cuttlery. This hotel needs to 'CLEAN' up there act literally. It would make a nice budget value hotel. I think 2 stars is generous.

Money-saving tip:
In Hotel
Do not use the taxi's recommended by the hotel staff. They are just a bunch of rip offs. just stop a couple of cabs outside and haggle the price down. Usually by more than half.

Great Hotel
I originally planned to stay in the President for two nights but have extended my stay for two nights. The rooms are basic but the hotel staff are some of the friendliest, most accommodating I've ever experienced. For the price you can't find anything like it in Cairo and I would definitely stay here again. If you are looking for something high-end this is not your hotel but it is clean, friendly, and will suit all of your needs. I would recommend this to friends coming to Cairo.

i wanted a hotel that was in the middle of everything and the president covered it...it's kind of like going to a really nice hotel in 1958...but i will say that it was clean and the staff ready to help...if you are looking for a moderately price hotel near cairo i would reccomend it.
