Great location
Rooms were very clean and very comfortable, a great nights rest. It is only a couple of blocks from some great restaurants serving local food and live music. There is tea and coffee available all day, the internet and nice comfortable common seating area. The only thing that has let this hotel down are some of the staff. Some are excellent and cant do enough to help you out or point you in the right direction. There was one in particular that seemed to let the side down and didnt go out of his way to be helpful at all. Sometimes a smile makes all the difference....

Lovely hotel where staff need a course in hospitality
This is a perfectly nice hotel, located in a convenient part of the historical district. It is only two blocks from a lively restaurant and cafe area called "La Ronda", which stays open late. The amenities were rather good and the hot water functioned about 90 percent of the time. Shampoo, conditioner and facial creme provided. They could be more generous with the scented toilet paper however. The breakfast was good and the dining room has a spectacular view of the Panecillo. Artwork and decor is appealing. The wi-fi functions well, although somewhat slow. The staff definetly need to be trained in courtesy and hospitality. When we arrived, our reservation (which was pre-paid and for which we had a confirmation number) had not been notated and the clerk needed to ensure that a room could be arranged. Several days later, when a local friend who served as our guide, was inadvertently locked out of their apartment and needed help, the hotel desk clerk would not provide us with a roll-away bed and told us that the siutation was "not convenient" for them. Nevertheless, they permited the person to remain, sleeping on the floor. An extra charge of $30.00 was incurred. Furthermore, when we requested an iron, scissors and extra hangers, there was quite a delay. The front of the house staff claimed difficulty in handling housekeeping matters after 3 pm. The iron arrived, although they had no ironing board and we had to press the clothing on the floor. The hangers came the next day and we needed to go to the desk to use what was a small school size pair. I would not mind to stay at this hotel again, if there was a more welcoming and accommodating position on the part of management and staff. After all, that is what it means to be in the hotel business - to offer hospitality to one's guests.

Loved this place! So much ambiente!
Spent two nights upon arrival in Quito, Ecuador and then booked another night for two weeks later when we were leaving the country. Loved the location so close to the heart of the historical center. Loved the architecture, the yummy breakfast in the charming breakfast room, the art hanging on the walls, the colonial architecture in general and the comfy beds!

Short walk from hotel
The Cafeteria Modelo has a wide selection of reasonably priced food in a happy, busy setting just two or three blocks up the street. Sucre St. is pedestrian only here for several blocks.

Great Base for exploring Historical Old Quito
I arrived late and was greeted by friendly and courteous staff. My room was ready, spotless and spacious. The room includes a full breakfast in the rooftop dining room overlooking the mountains around Quito. Breakfast included excellent coffee, fresh juices, cheese, breads, and fresh fruit. The location is excellent for walking to all of the sites in the historical old town. I highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for good value accommodation in Quito. One final note and that is that I found the staff to be very friendly, courteous and helpful with all of my requests (directions, taxi, messages)
