Lovely hotel with good management

I stayed here this time just for one night, as I was coming back from Punta Cana. I have been there at least two other occasions, this hotel keeps its good management and service. That is not frequent in DR. I hope it will keep it. It is perfectly located in Zona Colonial. Breakfast is good, rooms are clean and comfortable, although small. No desk to work, that is only missing.

Santo Domingo Immersion

Want to be immersed in nightlife and culture in Santo Domingo? This is the location. This charming older boutique hotel in the colonial sector is in the center of the action. The staff is wonderful, and the food at their restaurant "Azul" is great. They even go out of their way to make sure that late arrivals can get a bite to eat. The staff also washed our car before our departure. Now this location is a busy street, with lots of nightlife until the early morning hours (although the room included a white noise maker). The rooms are simple, the bathrooms are small, and the furnishings are older, but they go out of their way to make them comfortable with featherbed mattress toppers, plenty of soft pillows, thick towels and all of the little extras that come in handy (like a sewing kit). The location is in walking distance from shopping and the main square with exceptional restaurants. Our room included two soft beds, a small bathroom with shower, a small closet with safe, a dresser with a flat-screen TV, end table, seating area (table, chairs) inside and a balcony with more seating. Other details: There is free wifi (not particularly fast, but serviceable) and cable television with channels in Spanish and English. The shower is valved a little different than we were used to, the warm water is in the center. The restaurant serves a free breakfast buffet in the mornings that was pretty tasty. Unlike many of the larger D.R. resorts, this hotel does have an elevator in addition to the large central staircase. The hotel also has free, gated parking.

Time-saving tip: Not Applicable

Since part of the street in the area is being refit with new pipes and cables, we did have to drive a block in the wrong direction on the one-way street, but there was a helpful policeman that showed us the way and walked us to the parking gate to park, told the staff to raise the gate and even pointed us to the front door.

Convenient Straight-Forward Hotel

Great location in Colonial Zone of Santo Domingo, with parking for a car available 24/7. Staff are always present and are quick and responsive to needs. English speaking staff available. Basic breakfast available with good-quality food. Rooms are straightforward, with a nice bed. Wireless works well, as does A/C unit. Some noise from street, but nothing out of the ordinary for the area. Bike rental available at same location.

Don't even think about

I was very disappionted. The room was old and small. Location is terrible. Women selling their bodies and beggers hangging outside of the hotel. The only positive about this hotel is that the staff speaks English. I booked a king size room and was forced to stay in a queen size room because the hotel over was booked.

NOT GOOD

What you see in the website, is not. Some staffs are really rude. They just send someone with you in your room, can't even explain what you need to know. Totally frustrated with the service. That was my first time to Dominican Republic, I will never book this hotel again or refer to a friend either.

Hidden Gem in the Colonial Zone

Love this hotel. From it's location, its friendly staff, delicious hot Dominican buffet breakfast, and all around bargain this place is a hidden gem in the Colonial Zone. It is at the other end of theColonial Zone which is great since it offers a move away from the louder action packed beginning of El Conde. I hope to stay here every time I come to SDQ, which is often.

Super Experience!

Even though we speak only a little Spanish we were very well taken care of at this hotel. The room was very restful and clean, the location fantastic for visiting the Colonial Zone. The restaurant breakfast buffet offered fresh fruit and hot and cold items to appeal to a variety of visitors. The supper menu is not huge but there was something for everyone. Good air-conditioner, nice roof-top picnic area. Great quotations on the walls - would like to see some in other languages than English. Wifi and internet worked flawlessly. Great Price. We would go back.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

This hotel is half-way between the Faro de Colon and the Museo de Hombre Dominnicano. Both a short cab ride away and worth the trip. Half a block to the oldest church in the Americas and a post office.
