Family Getaway, ok resort

Our family just returned from The Reserve at the Paradisus Palma Real and enjoyed our trip, but not so much at the Reserve. The first negative was when we arrived and checkin was slow, because we were given a room with two beds not the king that we requested. We were told that they were all full, hard to believe when the resort was probably at 20% capacity, very empty. They wanted to upgarde us to a room that had a king bed, but for a price. We said no and sat for about 30min before the receptionist got approval to upgrade us without the added cost. The Hotel was nice, but defintly not worth the extra money paid to stay at the Reserve. The service was ok, pool bars were slow and drinks not very good. The expectation of tipping is defintly there and the service then reflects that. We did like the quiet and privacy at the Reserve, but would say its not a kids fun resort. The kids club was rather empty and more for very young children. Our daughter is 8 and was the worst kids club she had been to. No water slides or anything to that sort for older children nor was there anything like that at the palma real. The food was good at most restaurants, but not 5 star quality! Would have liked to see more snacks in the room for late night munchies. We are a little picky being that we have been to many resorts and this one needs some work to be listed as a 5 star. We will not return for a future visit to this resort, not worth the money.

Paradise at the Paradisus

Palma Real is a beautiful quiet hotel with awesome pools and excellent tasting food. The service unfortunately is not as great as other hotels I've stayed at. Once in a while we found a smiling face who was attentive and friendly. Most of the time we found ourselves having to call someone over for service and they seemed annoyed and not very friendly. Overall our room and the amenities are excellent. If you have the choice of staying at the Reserve take it!

Total Relaxation

Our trip's goal was to do nothing but relax, and we definitely accomplished this at the Paridisus Palma Real. it was truly all inclusive. Weather amazing, staff courteous, clean rooms, amazing beaches, the whole 9 yards. We stayed at the Reserve, and it was very romantic and relaxing. WE got the room with the private garden. Go see Felix and "Cuba" at Gabi Bar. They are the best. The only slight negative for me was the slight pressure to meet about buying into the vacation club, and no ceiling fan in the room. I had the AC cranked down, but a little moving air was all I needed to sleep better. Overall, we will be back. We see it as a kind of close Maui. Also - The last week of August / first week of Sept. is a great time to go if you want the resorts to yourself. Just that much more relaxing. WE had a blast.

A great hotel, but bring lots of bug spray

I just got back from a week stay at The Reserve in Punta Cana. The resort is all that I expected, beautiful layout, relaxing, family friendly and great staff. I was there for a wedding of a family member, and all together there were about 60 people that came from all over the world for the wedding. The staff was great at accomodating us, and for some reason when I checked-in, I was upgraded to a swim up room, and hey I didn't complain. The rooms are a good size and clean for the most part. The only problem I had was that I was eaten up with mosquitos every night as I slept. After the third night, I asked the concierge to spray my room and they did for the rest of my stay...unfortunatlly, that didn't seem to get rid of the bugs. Truly my only complaint about my stay here was that only. I will go back again, but this time with a bag fool of bug spray.

Great hotel 5 star looks 4 star really

Alll the rooms we requested with 1 king we received 4 with double beds and 1 with king. After the staff just pushed the beds together to form a king, lol. But over all the rooms were nice, Junior suite with balcony. Wasn't able to use the tub cause the water was brown. Food was good not great, hibatchi was terrible, and was subjected to a sales pitch for time share program because we had the concierge book our dinners?? Had a birthday dinner for my dad's 60th and requested a small cake and the concierge said it would cost $50 ???? So I would definitely give the hotel a 5 star rating but the service and food not so much, however overall the resort is beautiful.

Friendly service

My fiance and I were married on the beach and opted to stay at the Reserve because of the kid friendly pools and upgraded rooms. Babysitting was available through the Kids Zone staff. This was the first time at an all-inclusive for us and it was fantastic. All gratutities were included too. Staff was very pleasant and our wedding planners took care of everything. Not sure if it was the time of year, but both Reserve and Palma Real were very quiet. Perhaps it's because the resort was so spacious. Shuttle (golf carts) to and from the beach/Palma Real were readily available, but the walk was less than 10 minutes. Highly recommended!

Perfect For A Family Vacation

Punta Cana, Palma Real-Reserve- was the most fantastic experience I have ever had. Went there as one member of a destination wedding and stayed 3nights, 4 days. I have to say that it was the greatest gift I have ever given to myself. I've never done this before so I was quite impressed. I wanted to bask in the sun so I was really excited to see the pool right there just a few steps away. I enjoyed the jacuzzi and the swim plus a drink or two in the pool. I commend the men and women who provide the services, esp.dining, room service, housekeeping. They treated us with utmost patience and courtesy. Without their wonderful friendly attitude, it would not have been as enjoyable. They are as much a part of the package as the grand structure of the hotel. I loved all the art and decor all around! Thank you for the beautiful, unforgetable respite.
