Best beach
The RIU Palace Macau sits on the best beach we have visited. What makes it so great? The wideness, the clean near-white sand,the crystal clear warm water, the thickly scattered palm trees along the hotel's ocean front, the ease of finding lounge chairs, the friendliness of the waiter bringing my pina colada.....The entire hotel staff is friendly and welcoming. We had a great time!

RIU Palace Macao - great staff and beach
My wife and I spent 9 days at the RIU Palace Resort June 3rd -12th. The hotel was located on a great beach alongside 4 other RIU resorts. We thought the Buffet restaurant was good for breakfast and provided good choices at dinner. We ate at 2 of the reservation required restaurants ( Caribe Grill) and (Kabuki). The menu was the same both nights at the Caribe. The pool location was extremely HOT so we stayed at the beach where it was much cooler with a nice breeze. The drinks are good....the beer and wire were not so good. The shows were pretty much the same as a cruise except maybe worse. Overall. we had a great time and would definitely return.

Awesome anniversary!
We had a great vacation at Riu Palace Macao. Our room was very nice. Service staff were friendly and helpful. Service was excellent -- just ask and it is done. Food was good -- I unlike some do not expect gourmet meals at all inclusive resorts. Beach was clean and beautiful with plenty of chairs, activities and shade. We went on one excursion -- Funny monster truck -- a taste of dominican culture. I highly recommend it. We also chose a spa package of three massages on the beach -- very nice!

Third return to paridise
We have gone to the Dominican Republic 6 times to beat the winter blues. We found the Riu Palace Macao 4 years ago. This was our 3rd trip to this resort. We found the food quite acceptable for an all inclusive. The ride from the airport was easy access due to pre booking. The check in was quick. We had a fruit plate waiting in our room. Then to the beach for a walk. We booked an excursion with [...] whom you can find at the pool every AM teaching scuba. He sent us on a half day of snorkeling and swimming with the sharks. You should buy the DVD they make of your trip. Every morning there are staff to help you find beach chairs whether poolside our on the beach. One or two dollars tip early in your stay will almost guarantee great service the rest of the week. You are assigned a table for dinner and the waiter or waitress will be the same all week. Your wine etc. will be waiting when you sit. We meet folks from all over the world including Dominicans willing to tell their story. Just a great week.

Short walk from hotel
To get the best deal on gifts,coffee, cigars, T-shirts just turn right at the beach and walk for 15 to 20 minutes. The shops on the beach love to haggle over the prices. Usually things cost about 1/2 the asking price

I played volleyball aranged by hotel, there was beach aerobics, dance lesson on the beach, parasailing, free catamaran, free kayaking....the food was great......the staff were friendly and very professional.....

Great vacation spot!!
Great experience...the resort was overall great, i do not have any complaints about the resort, except the rooms are a little outdated!!! The staff was very helpfull and very friendly always going out of their way to help, location is great..steps away from the beach and the beach bar where they always have a drink for you!! A lot of activities to do so you dont get bored!! I will definately come back...My first time in DR and i had a wonderful experience!!!!

The hotel was overbooked so we were moved next door to the Bamboo,which has recently been remodeled. After 3 days we requested to move back. Having stayed at the Macao Palace previously, we new what we were missing. They upgraded our room selection to a suite and provided us with a 3 day voucher for next year. We then proceeded to have a wonderful time. The food was just fine with a different theme every night. We went on a snorkeling excursion for 1/2 day which included snorkeling, swimming with sharks and rays, lunch, and a 15 minute massage. This was only about 20 minutes from the resort. There is a beautiful 20 miles of beach to walk along. I will be going back next year for the 8th time. This little piece of paradise helps ward off winter.
