Paradise is correct

Spent 5 days here with a group of 11 traveling together and it was amazing!!! Room service, food, the beach and rooms were perfect. I also won $50 playing black jack! The staff work hard and genuinely want you to have a good time. People have complained about not being able to use the resort credits because typically you have to put up some of ur own money, like w/ the casino vouchers that I used, but that was not a selling point for me to stay at this hotel, so it was not a big deal. Only issue I had was w/ beach/pool towels and having to have a card to get one and then return the card or get charged $30 per person, there is only one place to get the towels on the whole resort so this was annoying as you have to walk back and forth. I guess they have issues w/ ppl stealing towels, I've stayed at other all inclusive resorts and granted they were smaller but they did not have this type of system and multiple places to get towels.

Big disappointment

The hotel is very nice, once you arrive you notice the beautiful lobby. The public restrooms are just as nice. The resort is big, getting to the room is not a short walk they have shuttle service every five- 10 minutes. The rooms were nice, disappointed they didn't have alcohol in our room. You can order room service for a $5 charge, but no menu in your room to know what to order. The food was bad!! We ended up eating at Vita(italian) more than we expected but even that food got us sick at the end of our stay. The service is terrible, slow and rude. If you don't speak spanish don't expect anyone to jump on helping you out.

Needs updating and better cuisine

Fine for what it is but don't expect to be wowed. We went there for a wedding and had never had the all inclusive experience before so basically we had no expectations. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and the whole resort very well manicured and comfortable. Our room was at the the Paradisus Punta Cana part of the resort and needed a bit of updating. But we didn't spend a whole of time there, so that was fine. Apparently the Reserve portion of the resort is the newer part which comes with a price. The biggest miss was the food. Most of it seemed pre-prepared like catering food. And if you're interested in any authentic Dominican cuisine you may be out of luck. We couldn't find anything with the occasional exception. Also, room service food is awful! But there are tons of activities to do. Snorkling, Scuba, Para-sailing, golf, archery, climbing, biking (though the bikes we rode were in desperate need of replacing) and drinking. So, not bad for our first all inclusive experience. Would we go back? Probably not. We're more interested in a cultural experience than an all-inclusive one. But it was great for a destination wedding.

Dining tip: In Hotel

Try to stick with food items that are prepared in front of you. i.e. omeletes at breakfast, hibachi grill at Sakura, grilled chicken etc. Everything else has the taste of catered food because that's essentially what it is. Stay away from the pizza. Terrible! And drink bottled water. DR water might give you the runs.

Tread Carefully

So, the beach was OK There were a couple of storms that passed through and it probably released the seaweed that was all on the beach. . Me an my fiance stayed in the pool most of the time because of that. The food, better than expected this is another country so don't expect cheesecake factory or Ruth's Chris' type quality if that's even quality. The staff was cool. Things to do, don't expect much here. If you get bored easily, don't go or don't get bored. There isn't any real entertainment. The only music you heard was when you were close to the beach-side BBQ or the pool-side bar. The evening shows leaves much to be desired. Learn what you want in Spanish. This is not america, they speak enough English to serve you beer and smile and say your welcome. I expected to experience Dominican culture in the shows but, they are to fascinated with American culture or they just think that's what we want. I guess it doesn't help when the choreographer is really from Miami. I guess that's why i always go to Sto. Dom. Now, for things that were annoying. Don't get caught up in the pictures on this sight. That is not what you are getting. If you want what in the pictures go to the palma real. Do not by any means purchase the timeshare that will be offered to you. They will only ask questions that you can only say yes to but, never giving you any real information. Nor will you walk away with any hard copy of information. Everything is legal in another country....They will show you information that is outdated ex. Forbes list from 2006 with a 49th ranking. If you are 50th or 49th you still suck even if you are on Forbes. They try to reel you in with inflation numbers and six figure vacation cost. But if you buy into this 30k plan and spend the money that they say you will....Even though the room may cost you $90 when you are a member instead of $300 (The figures they use0) It still equals the same amount. You are just coming out of pocket up f front and you are just guaranteeing that they get your money for 50 years. So avoid them and the so call concierge who wants you to go to them so they get points and you get a free dinner at the Reserve's lack luster restaurant that's $50 per person. After the 3 hr presentation. -Enjoy. S.N. Concierge says they lost my info but, i think it was all part of the game. The things i do for a free dinner that wasn't worth my time.

Paradisus Punta Cana

I have been going to this hotel since 2005 once a year. Every visit is a sad observation of the hotel going downhill. The problems are the same every year: 1. The service staff is extremely lazy, inefficient, irresponsible, and in most cases just stupid. Nothing gets done promptly or permanently. We were waiting for a coffee for 20mins and ended up self-servicing, or had to call the lobby every day for clean towels. 2. Dining problem in the evening - big lines for dinner at the restaurants, people paying to the hostess to cut in front of the line, long time to get serviced, the orders messed up. 3. Had to come to the beach at 7am to get a chair, otherwise no spots. 4. The staff is spoiled by the tips. If you don't tip up, you don't get an adequate service. 5. A problem to get around - the premises are huge, not enough trolleys. The ones that "only for members" are chilling and not taking you. 6. The rooms are old, molded, something is always breaking. You would need to call multiple times to get it fixed, but it would break again. 7. The clientele has changed to the worst. While our stay this year, 2 people got arrested by the local police. There is always somebody drunk and misbehaving. 8. New for this year - a construction on the beach that nobody told us about (no discounts for the inconvenience). Noise, vibration, ugly view. 9. A humiliating hierarchy - there are so many of different tiers of the guests - royal service, reserve, bracelets of different color. Everybody gets different service, the amenities are separated. You feel segregated if you didn't pay for the extra service. The problem is that even if you do pay, it doesn't make much of a difference because you have to fight for those extra amenities. 10. New this year - a young female guest, almost naked in the FAMILY concierge on the beach (without having the privilege of that section). She made the bartenders put regaetton music, started sexually explicit dances and ended up pulling her bottom down. Needless to say that there were children and families around. Only after a visit to the lobby, the indecency was stopped. However, the waiter (drinking with her) got very obnoxious, and started arguing that he didn't do anything wrong. The bartenders and the guard were doing shots with her. 11. The bars serve drink to teenagers, and they end up drunk.

Amazing Hotel and Even Better Customer Service

My husband and I just returned from Paradisus where we stayed from July 28-August 4 for his 26th birthday and our 2 years wedding anniversary. It was amazing! They are very big on "eco-friendly" so don't go killing any trees or wildlife, just take in the serene and tranquil surroundings - it is such a change from the Manhattan life that we are used to. My husband enjoyed the beach to the point of not wanting to leave, which almost drove me insane. The staff is what really makes this place...everyone was very polite and helpful, especially the Guest Services Manager, Nathaniel Perez. He made sure all my requests were made prior to our arrival and even upgraded our room to a Royal Suite right on the beach and booked our dinner reservations at night (PS...Sakura and Qui were two of the best restaurants). As it turns out, the bed was somewhat hard, but I have a chronic back condition and the bed actually helped my back, and my husband slept like a log. The only thing I can make mention of is that some dishes were highly salty and the beach had a TON of seaweed, but that would be me nit picking. All in all we enjoyed it and felt like royalty. We would definitely LOVE to visit again, and i advise people to do the excursions...they are awesome...we went Snuba diving and once i got past the hyperventilating, it was one of the greatest experiences ever.

Average Resort

The resort is beautiful and the whole staff was amazing! The only issue was the food for dinner wasn't that great. Also as a side note, everything is kind of far away from each other (although they do have a trams running throughout the day), but we liked the exercise. All in all its a good resort, you just need an open mind about the food.

Disappointing "4 star hotel"
