fun time!
Paradisus Palma Real is beautiful! We stayed in the Reserve, and it was just as advertised. It was quiet and serene, but a short walk (or golf cart ride) away from the busier main resort, and also a short walk to the beach. The rooms are very nice. We were two families traveling together and had requested adjoining rooms. Because of this, we were upgraded to a master 1br suite, adjoining to a regular 1br suite. Together, there was plenty of sleeping space. We had 2 teenage boys, one 10 year old girl and two couples. The bathroom set up in the master suite was terrific. The rooms were spacious, modern and clean. Nice touches are the included room service, plenty of bottled water available everywhere, great pool towels, lots of comfortable seating at the pools and on the beach, swim-up bar. The spa and gym facility are really nice. The food is mostly very good. The only complaint we had is that the "better" restaurants required reservations, and the reservations were quite hard to get. The "concierge" that was supposedly there to make our stay easier did mostly nothing except set up some reservations, but not even at the times we had asked for. It all worked out fine and we had a terrific time. The hotel staff is friendly and helpful. The entertainment in the main hotel in the evenings was fun.... nothing too fancy, but definitely fun. This was a terrific vacation. An all-inclusive resort takes the hassle out of everything. It's great to not have to carry around money and feel like you're constantly opening your wallet. Kids are hungry? no problem -- order room service, or head over to the poolside grill. Feel like a drink by the pool? no problem -- someone will gladly bring it for you. Truly lovely place!

TRULY PARADISE
This HOTEL is amazingly beautiful. Grounds are well maintained. Careful... There are NO DIRECT OCEAN VIEWS.. they are all partial. [...]where Fabulous! The Front Desk staff was not very friendly and seemed to have an attidude. They do not make it easy to make Dinner reservation. You have certain days and times to reserve dinner or else you eat at the BUFFET. Don't buy the VIP (Reserve) section, same thing for more $$The guys at Aqua, Pool Bar are amazing! Don't miss the Dominican music on Monday afternoon.!!

It is a paradise!!!
I have been there twice, once in Royal Service and once at the Reserve. The Reserve was the greatest! It is more private and you have full access to everything at the Reserve as well as the main hotel. Golf carts are constantly driven back and forth between the Reserve and main hotel (only a few minutes away!)so it is NO problem getting back and forth. You are treated like ROYALTY! Two bad things - avoid the horseback excursion. I have done it twice now and should have learned the first time. Poorly run and the worst part was this time we did the sunset ride and when it was over, we had to wait in this jungle for 45 minutes for our ride to come! We were just standing there getting eaten alive by bugs! We missed our dinner reservations, it was bad! Also... if you stay at the Reserve DO NOT throw away or take off your own bracelet at the end of your trip. NOBODY told us this when we checked in! They just said, "If the bracelet comes off, come to the front desk and we will put it back on you!" Well, right at check out when our ride to the airport was waiting out front and all our luggage was in the van, the woman at the desk informs me if we do not return our bracelets, there will be a $200 charge for each bracelet not returned put on my credit card! (There are 4 in my family!!) Thank God I knew which of my suitcases had my bracelet I was taking home as a souvenior, my daughter had her's stashed in her purse, my son had his, but my husband threw his away in the room before we left. Thank God again the maid service didn't clean the room yet so all bracelet's were retrieved! This was total chaos making the van driver and other people wait in the parking lot. I was a bit upset, and told them nobody informed me of this previously and the hotel lady was a bit snooty with me over all this and she did not apologize for the lack of communication. But it all worked out in the end! Other than that, it was a perfect, perfect, trip! Enjoy!

Nightlife tip:
In Hotel
The night entertainment at the hotel is a bit cheesy, but I still liked it! I had to laugh, their "80's Night" with a DJ played disco music from the 70's, Frank Sinatra, and the Righteous Brothers???? They were behind a few decades, but it was still nice. The Michael Jackson night featured great break-dancers, but the Michael Jackson impersonators were a bit cheesy - but it was still enjoyable (if you can stomach Michael Jackson!)

Excellent...ready to go back!
Amazing lobby, great staff, personal vacation concierge, great restaurants and bars, super relaxing, great staff and very close to the airport (less than a 30 minutes from airport). The other couples in our shuttle had an hour drive to their respective hotels. Go for an ocean or partial ocean view - we had breakfast on our balcony most mornings...just beautiful.

Semi-OK Getaway
The hotel was very scenic and beautiful. The main complaint I have about the trip was the quality of the food and drinks as well as the quality of the excursions. The Chocolate Mudlsides, Pina Coladas, and Strawberry Daiquiris all gave us some good diarrhea during this trip. My wife finally got her colon cleaned unintentionally and I felt a little uneasy after every mudslide so we changed it up to wine. The wines offerred were so-so. I have had better wine in the states and this is cheap under $15 a bottle wine I am talking about. They must have $5 wine because that is what it tasted like. During our visit there were various restaurants available - Bana (Tempayaki / Pan-Asian sections), Vento (Upscale Italian / Seafood), Passion (Romantic Style So-So Food), Naos Lunch Buffet, and Gabi Beach (Supposedly Prime Steaks, Seafood). The best restaurant was undoubtedly Bana where the tempayaki style cooking was very entertaining as well as delicious. The pan-asian section of the restaurant was OK food and the sushi side of the restaurant we did not try because it did not offer many sushi options. Vento was a semi-decent place to eat. The food there was semi good and we had a great time enjoying the atmosphere. Passion restaurant did have a "romantic" atmosphere but the food was average at best. Naos was the site of all of our lunches and breakfasts since none of the other restaurants were open during that time. Gabi Beach is the exclusive restaurant for The reserve guests - although we were able to dine there one night even though we stayed in the regular hotel with a partial ocean view suite (See hint section). The restaurant itself has semi-ok food but the open atmosphere - i.e. it is not closed off and the Dominican Summer Heat combined with the mosquitoes will make life a little interesting for you while you chow down on surf and turf. If you are going to do the excursions - please avoid doing the adventure boogies unless you specifically ask for an ATV. You will get drenched in sand from the Dominican Farms where all the animals pee and [*] on and the red clay will not wash off your clothes. That and there were a lot of puddles when we went so we were constantly getting wet and extremely dirty from every angle.

Money-saving tip:
In Hotel
If you take a 3 hour tour of the Reserve Hotel on your first or second day they will offer you a complimentary night of dinner at Gabi Beach. We were pretty open to the tour of how you can purchase a time share so we went along and got our free pass at Gabi Beach. The actual time share doesn't seem like too good of a deal especially when you can get better vacation deals on [...]and other sites. Massages are expensive and not worth the money especially when you can get better ones in the U.S. for half off. If you do excursions you'll constantly run into people trying to sell you something. Overall, our time in Punta Cana was semi-relaxing but there are probably better vacation spots for the amount of money you spend - i.e. the Bahamas and US Virgin islands.

More than awesome
I was there for my niece's wedding and in two words this hotel has...."amezing services"..You do not feel like if you are in the Dom. Rep. In room service was great, food was amezing a little for everybody the rooms are as you see in the pictures spotless clean they clean twice a day in the morning and at night.....I did not have to ask for anything... Their night showes were spectacular...everything was perfect for me and I have OCD. so clean means everything to me and it was there. if there was a 10 for clean I will give it to them.. ;-) by the way the price is worth it....I actually think is cheap compare to everything you can get.

Paradisus Palma Real Resort
Absolutley amazing location. Overall great service and very friendly staff. Sign up for 'free' activities early as they fill up. Found it very hard to find nutritious/filling true vegetarian options. I found myself to be protein 'deprived' by the end of a 4 day stay. But overall very impressed with the stay. By the way, seemed like it was full of 40-50+ year old crowd, not a big deal but I was there with a wedding party of 30 year olds and it was a bit awkward at times.
