We had a great time. We went on two tours, do not waste your money on the one that has snorkeling: super expensive, the boat ... was tiny everyone was throwing up and getting sea sick, the snorkeling was the tiniest section ever, the food was not too good (the one at the hotel was way better). The good tour was the ATV's and Dumbuggies in the mud (take a bathing suit, n clothes that could get thrown away or dark and won't get stained) lots of fun! The hotel was great we had bowling, coffee, casino, shows, great nightlife by the bar, and great day time party by the bar in the pool!!!!

This hotel is OK, but be prepared to pay for extra services even if you are in the privilege rooms. Room services charge ... before certain time during the morning, but it will be free if you have privilege rooms. I didn't like the beach too much, however the pool was good, my kids loved it. Very good shows, but the same music over and over. Teen club was ok, but take some cash to pay $15.00 dollar for the bowling, you will get the first one free. Food was good. Try the Bucanera Restaurant by the beach very good seafood, Mexican food don't even try.

WE have traveled many places before. This was our first all-inclusive. We could not have been more happy with this ... experience! The Ocean Blue has the vacation formula down to a science! Of course, it depends on what one is looking for in a vacation, however we found it all here-relaxing beautiful beach surroundings with lots of choices: in activities (we like sailing, snorkling, but there was much more. Staff made us feel very welcome. Ocean Blue can attract good employees with alot of personality! Our room was more than one could hope for-spacious, pretty view from a large balcony. If you really like to shop, that is a little tricky here. We don't; so we did not care. Nine restaurants, good entertainment in evenings...That beach is really something-plenty of cabanas, so relaxing too were the swimming pools. We loved the wind, water, snorkling trip, sailing the hobie cats. We went to spa for massage. Go there!

There are indigeonous shopkeepers on the beach. We did not go there, b/c the shopkeepers were so aggressive. The shops off the hotel lobby had prices that i thought were reasonable and if you wanted...and only if you wanted to, YOU could offer them less...these shopkeepers were 'normal people.'

Family Vacation
cousin Jul 9, 2009
In short, I took a family vacation at the Ocean Blue Golf & Beach Resort. Some of the areas which need improvement are: ... Housekeeping-eg. not enough towels, bed wasn't properly made, Safe- had malfunction or should I say the battery needed to be replaced. We went on a few excursions and I come back to my room after 4pm and the room wasn't cleaned. Why? I've stayed in plenty of hotels some 4 stars and some 5 and I can tell you that this resort isn't a four star as they would have patrons believe. In closing, I had a great vacation but wasn't particularly satisfied with quality of service.

The stay was awful! I would recommend looking at one of the many other resorts in the area. The bathroom was filthy! I had ... it cleaned three times before I did it myself. The noise level is unbelievable. The staff is friendly but unable to resolve any issues. The concept of the hotel is good but the execution is unbelievably bad! I hope they can turn it around!

Downtown May 25, 2009
We unfortunately had awful weather the entire week we were there. The resort is very beautiful and very clean with a very ... freindly staff. The only bad was it rained so hard, that the all the walkways became very flooded throughout the resort and began to smell like sewerage. But I must say, they did a wonderful job cleaning up and were very prompt to do it.

A Great Vacation
work 4 vacation Apr 22, 2009
Overall the trip was great. Our room was clean & well maintained. Eating at the buffet; drink service was so slow that if ... you wouldn't get you own drinks you'd never get anything. Also at the beach bar in the morning they wouldn't make mixer drinks. Most of the staff was great with a few exceptions. Food was good not spectacular. My biggest issue was with Coco Tours. The rep not showing up when he was supposed to. (& caused us to miss important info about coconut drinks; to many makes you sick) That & we just wasted 2 hours waiting on him.

I would recommend skipping the transportation from & to the airport & just use a taxi service. It'll save you about 1 hour to 2 1/2 hours in time.

I have been there for three years,May April, and now March. Weather now was like Aruba very windy. But great sun The ocean ... water was too rough. I was given a Deluxe Suite at villa 6. The room inside was beautiful, except the jacussi was missing a jet so you couldn't use it.The balcony was facing a alley way, some back street. Than it gets better, One night in the middle of the night some one was banging our door like they were going to dock it dowwn. That was a very scary moment, since our room was all the way at the end near the beach.I was scared atfer that night.

My review of Ocean Blue Golf and Beach Resort - All Inclusive
Anthony Jan 2, 2009
The Hotel was very well kept, friendly service, large pools and great beach. The buffet was well stocked with good ... assortment. You must be sure to request a room facing the pool, or you will not have any views. The Restaurant waiting times can be excessive, and the resort needs more trams than just one. A real negative was that the pool water was COLD, very few people were even in the pools. A second real negative was the wireless Internet service. Aside from that, the location and size of the resort is excellent, the pool bars were great, and the nightly shows were well done.

Our family had a nice winter getaway. We had a spacious room with a gorgeous view.Food was mediocre but the Christmas eve ... dinner was a blast with very festive and presentable sumptous dinner. There was entertainment especially at night.Do not miss Mikes coffee bar...However on our last day 2 guys opened our door stating that they just check in and the front desk gave them our room. What a fiasco. Since then our keys wont work.So we have to go to the lobby and complain...Our stay could be better if the weather cooperated. It rained for 2 days...But overall our stay was pleasant and relaxing.

My stay @ Ocean Blue Resort in Punta Cana was a wonderful experience like no other in Dominican Republic. From the friendly ... staff @ the front desk to the animation team we were so well pampered with almost everything that we asked for(extra pillows, massage in the room, replenished mini bar).Room service is great. The hotel has two big pools with jacuzzis as well. The food was delicious with a good variety(I liked the most was the dominican:great selection and better taste;but the grill and pasta section was great too). The room was clean ,but I think they need to put more effort in decor and maintenance.I traveled with my teenage son and my friend/son too.The hotel offers diverse activities for adults (live music in the lobby area every night) and the teens club(they have even their own discoteqe,,video games, bowling, pool, etc.) I would recommend this hotel for families w/children,young people.

The Ocean Blue Golf and Beach Resort is, overall, worth the cost if you're willing to fight for what you want. The beach is ... beautiful, the pools were nice and had plenty of chairs and umbrellas for everyone. The food ranged anywhere from good to very good. The specialty restaurants were the best, especially the Dominican restaurant. The rooms are not decorated at all. Only things on the walls are screws where paintings used to be. We had a very difficult time with our room. The TV remote didn't work, the refrigerator didn't work, the air conditioning made a loud racket all night long making it difficult to sleep. The clock was missing. The beds were on rollers and would actually roll away from the wall at night, leaving your pillow on the floor behind you. We switched rooms 3 times trying to get one that had everything in working order. We finally had to canibalize the 2nd room to complete the 3rd. I was forced to do this myself since we could not get the staff to help in any way. After finally getting settled into a proper room, the rest of our vacation at the resort was great! It's very obvious you are not in the U.S. when it comes to customer service.

A Good Time
Anne Apr 21, 2008
My husband and I arrived @ 4pm on Sunday afternoon. Check in went relativly smooth. Our room was very nice, but, on the ... third floor and no elevators! After hiking up and waiting approx. 1/2 hour for our luggage to arrive, we unpacked and explored. We were in the building furthest from the beach, but, it wasn't that long of a walk. The pools were nice and clean w/plenty of loungers and umbrellas. The beach was beautiful and had alot of palpalas on it, although we found out that you had to play the towel game in order to get a shaded area because as with most resorts, some guests put towels down and didn't show up to use the area until several hours later. The ocean was very warm and the pools were extremely warm!! The restaurants were ok - our favorites were Route 66 and the buffet - we weren't thrilled w/the food at the mexican nor the italion, although the atmosphere in all was nice. If you don't get to the specialtity restaurants right when they open at 6:40, be prepared to wait a long time for a sitting. The lobby bar was nice in the evening w/the live music, although, even though we tipped very generously, several times we had to wait a long time for a drink from some of the bartenders. They were much quicker to serve the men rather than the women. The pool bar in the blue pool got very roudy some afternoons w/alot of people consuming more alcohol than necessary! Although there were alot of families there w/children, we were never bothered by the kids - we were all there to have fun. Our room, although plain, was always cleaned and the mini frig filled w/beers, water and soda. We only went to the disco once and it was entirely too loud for us, but, I'm sure the younger people enjoyed it. We were never bothered by the time share folks - the one time they asked and we told them we weren't interested, they never bothered us again. This was our third trip to the DR, so we relaxed and enjoyed our trip by laying on the beach, swimming in both the ocean and the pools and met and talked w/some people we met. The grounds were immaculate and very beautiful. I loved the colorful display of the buildings - looked very carribbean! We went bowling one night and that was fun - no gutter balls so you could score higher! :-) We went sailing one afternoon and it was nice - we know how to sail, so we didn't need to spend time taking the lesson. The only excursion we did was horseback riding - we booked our trip on the beach for the two hour trip. It was exptremely hot and a bit uncomfortable as they took us to someone's home and we felt obligated to give these people money due to the way it was presented. Next time, I would only take the ride that went along the beach. All in all, it was a good trip, although we will probably not return to this resort as it was very family oriented and very plain for what we are used to.

STRESSFUL
Orlando Apr 20, 2008
This vacation was not a vacation; we spent our vacation in the lobby trying to get help from someone to get a room that was ... not falling a part. The service is horrible the people are lazy they kept telling us that they already had the problem fixed and that everything was in working order, all lies. The bathroom sink did not have cold running water, the Jacuzzi was not in working order so we had to shower to our surprise when we would finish showering we would have water running although our room, when we would call front desk to have the mess cleaned up and ask for extra towels but know one would show we would have to walk all the way down to the front desk and tell them that we need to have it cleaned we were unable to go to our room that night until 12:00am waiting for them to have our room in working order, which was just a waste of time. Because the something would happen every time we would shower. The remote was not working; the ac would never make our room cool we depended on the fan that the room had hanging from the ceiling. To top everything off one afternoon after we arrived tired from an excursion that we had paid for we found that our room was open, and would not close the batteries were out on the lock. If you want to have a very stressful vacation stay at this resort. The buffet area bathrooms were not in working order.
