Nice relaxing getaway
Gigi Dec 20, 2009
It's a beautiful five star resort and the staff was incredible. They were so friendly and catered to our every need. We had a ... couple issues like our room safe was temporarily not working, the gym was under construction, the internet was not working in our room and on the last day the hotel didn't have running water for a few hours. These things were really not a big deal for us. We had a great time. The pool is awesome and the beach was clean and beautiful! The hotel will provide several activities but we decided to relax on the beach with our yummy cocktails. Its a great place for couples.

I stayed at another resort in July. The food was fantastic although the resort was not as nice as this one. Service was ... prompt. When you complained about something not being right at this resort, it was never addressed. I added a guest to my room when I arrived and was charged more than I had paid for the room on a single basis. I will never stay there again.

We also participated in zipline and snorkeling - all of which we would recommend. Tip: Don't forget your beach bag because you'll never want to leave your chair it's so comfortable and has an unforgettable view!

This was the most beautiful resort we've ever been to. The staff was wonderful. You couldn't have asked for more from ... them. However, the food was horrible. The alcohol selection was very limited. They only served one kind of beer and it was kept in a keg not refridgerated. also, i had to beg for limes. the staff actually said they'd get in trouble if the gave me any. I realize that we were in the islands and there are bugs to be expected, but the tiny flees were all over the tables at dinner and when we ordered room service one evening there were ants running around our plates. We've never been to punta cana before and we don't know if this bug problem and horrible food is normal or not. It's a shame because we won't go back because of this and the resort was amazing.

This was a wonderful all inclusive resort. The staff was very friendly, the rooms were immaculate, and the drinks were not ... watered down. The resort was at MAYBE 15% capacity. Some days we were the only ones in the pool for hours on end. Our room smelled of mildew, but we were there with a group of 21 people and only one other couple had this problem. As others have stated on the reviews, the food is marginal. You have to keep in mind that they are trying very hard to cook American style cuisine without the help of Food Service of America or Sysco. The fruit was wonderful and plentiful. Suggestions for those people planning to stay here in the future: *Bring lots of change...no one was willing to break larger bills. It is kind of sad because it diminished the tips we would have given them. Find [...]. He offered service with a smile and was very helpful in getting strings pulled.*Bring your own toiletries and bring extra. One gal in our group went to the little gift shop/ store on site and bought razors, shaving cream, sunscreen, and toothpaste and it came to about $75 USD.*If you get a smelly room, let them know! They said they would have moved us had we let them know. *Skip the spa. The ladies were very kind but I don't think any of them had been trained in massage or manicures. My polish was peeling off within 4 hours.Overall we had a wonderful experience. I would most definately stay here again!

You can make reservations at the 4-5 bistro type restaurants before 4 pm. I would suggest making all your reservations your first night. Also, there are two different levels of stay: Regular and Paradise Club. The upgrade gives you a HUGE room with 2 bathrooms, outside shower and jacuzzi, and a beautiful, unobstructed ocean view. It also allows you to have top shelf liquor, free internet access, and a much better chance at dinner reservations at the restaurants. It was about $40 extra dollars a night....DO IT!!! We will be the next time we go back.

Vicki Aug 23, 2009
From the time we entered the hotel we felt very comfortable with the clean and relaxing atmosphere. The hotel has modern and ... uncluttered decor. Our Paradise Club room was spotless and we had a wonderful view of the pool and beach. We spent our days on the beach under a palapa and the afternoons at the pool. The NH has a great uncrowded beach with plenty of loungers available even on the busiest days. The pool also had plenty of available loungers. The staff was friendly and accomodating. There was a large selection of food available at all times and we always found something good to eat. We went on two excursions that we booked on the internet before we left on our trip, so we did not use the excursion planner at the resort. We went on the Tropical Storm day cruise and Punta Cana Mikes Dominican Adventure Higuey Circle tour. Both were great and were a nice change of pace from the relaxing days at the resort. You can walk for miles up and down the beach past other resorts and I was always glad to get back to the NH after seeing how small or crowded other beach areas were. We will definatly return to this resort. We were three travelers, parents age 54 and a 19 year old son.

I can't say enough about the beach and the huge size of this resort. You were never elbow to elbow with people, felt very ... personal. I went to meet up with some friends at NH Real Arena on July 21st, 2009. They had arrived Sunday July 19th, 2009. I wanted ... to spend a nice relaxing time but only could stay for one night. I wanted things to run smoothly since I just had one night. Unfortunately, upon my arrival my keys didn't work, then my phones in the room stopped working and I wanted room service that night. Also, I called for baggage pick up service the next day for check out..and they never came. I was disappointed with the service and I was considered a Paradise Club member (VIP). I was expecting SUPERB service!

This was our first trip to D.R. The hotel grounds were beautiful but the staff at the front desk wasn't willing to go out of ... their way to help you. We booked a garden view room but we had a view to other people's houses along with their clothes line! I immediately went to front desk and spoke to [...] but she wasn't very friendly and told me there was nothing she can do for me and told me to come back tomorrow. I went back the next day and [...] moved me to a better room that faces the courtyard. The a la carte system is ridiculous! I was only able to book 3 reservations and the only choice I had was which 3 restaurants I wanted to eat in. [...] told me what days and the time my reservations were without giving me a choice claiming that the restaurants were full but each time we went to them they had plenty of open tables. Other guests I talked to agreed that restaurants were half empty when they went also. The food at the hibachi restaurant was salty and we were rushed because they needed our seats for the next reservations. The best restaurant for us was Senses. The food and the service was the best from the a la carte choices. The Festival Buffet was good. The best waiter from the festival buffet was [...]. He was the friendliest and the most attentive staff member at the whole resort. The outdoor buffet had basically the same food every day. Good luck trying to get a regular hamburger or hot dog for your children...they cook them with onions and bell peppers. The walls from the room are so thin you think that the people walking above you are in the same room as you are. The beds were so hard I had a hard time getting comfortable. Over all it was a relaxing vacation and we enjoyed the pool and the beach. We did like the fact that the hotel had security on the beach which didn't allow vendors to come up to you selling their products, So no need to worry about people bothering you trying to sell you some thing every five minutes while you try to relax. If you just want to relax and enjoy the beach this is the right place to be. There is not much to do but that. I personally prefer Cancun, there's much more to do and see there.

We were told by other guests who had previously been to the D.R. that it was best to buy your souvenirs at airport because the shops at the mall were expensive. To our surprise we ended up paying a fortune for them at the airport. We found that it is better to pay in dollars than changing your money to pesos. Some shops in the airport were charging us more for the items if we paid in pesos claiming that they had to pay a commission for changing pesos into dollars.

Our family never took an all-inclusive vacation before and we really enjoyed it. The hotel and rooms were super clean and ... every staff member we interacted with was extremely helpful and friendly. I went for the beach and was not disappointed. Plenty of shady places and lounge chairs and a short walk to the daytime buffet and bars. When we checked-in we required one room with two beds and received two rooms with king beds. Also, found out that the room set-up included a wide open bathroom with no privacy (my fault, didn't read the room description fully). Not a problem for me and my husband but a little much for our two adult children. They gave us one free upgrade to the Paradise Club and solved the problem. Always found something at the buffet. One negative was the special restaurants. Reservations were tough to get and the Italian restaurant was not worth the wait. Better food at the buffet. All and all a positive experience and we would go back.

If you are going to check out the flea market on the beach, get prices at the hotel first. These vendors will have an asking price of at least three times the real value of an item. Set a price yourself and stick with it...they don't want you to go to the stall next door!

For those of you who have been to the DR before, you know what to expect. For those of you who haven't, the biggest disservice you can do to yourself is to think the food is going to be EXCELLENT. It's another country - it's not going to be the best food you've ever had. With that said, my fiance and I have experienced all types/qualities of food in the DR and this was by far the best.
