Great vacations!!!

We stayed at this hotel 27 Feb to 6 March and enjoyed every minute. The staff were always helpful and friendly. The food in beach buffets was good, there was not to much to choose from and the food was of an average standard.(small slection of juices). We really enjoyed the dinners in restaurants and dishes served there. Rooms were good and they were quiet and clean. The beach and grounds were beautiful. Service in lobby was very helpful, especially Emilio in Tropical lobby.

Great Vacation!

We had a great time at the Melia. Went with 6 couples and we all upgraded, some at booking and some at check in. The upgrade was worth it if you want the top shelf liquor. Make sure to bring a mug with you as the cups are small so thus way you need to refill less. Buffet food was average but I thought the meals ordered off the menu were better than we've had at other all inclusives. Tipping seemed required in Royal Service but not if you didn't upgrade. All in all we had fun, good service and awesome weather!

Great value!

This was a great hotel for the price. It is was quite close to the airport so you didn't waste time on the shuttle ride. Great beach with many chairs and umbrellas. The staff was very helpful and friendly as well. The Thai restaurant at the resort was the best!

Great vacation

This vacation was great! The staff was wonderful and was always willing to help. The hotel was amazing, so many hard workers keeping it clean everyday. I have been to punts Cana many times but I would have to say this was one of my most memorable trips. Met some great people who I still talk to. Thanks again and I will most certainly be coming back!

Not such a good hotel experience

The hotel is beautiful however too spread out. The rooms are soooo far away from the lobby and their shuttle system sucks. Waisted too much time trying to get from one place to another. Management extremelly rude. The safe in my room was broken, the door to the room itself was having problems and was locked out for an hour waiting for staff to come and help. It was my third trip to Punta Cana and the food was very ordinary compared to the Riu hotel. So next family reunion will not happen at the Melia. The staff needs training. It is not a cheap hotel therefore service must be improved.

The buffet is very ordinary. Italian restaurant was good. Thay was terrible. The bartenders at the pool area were very nice. Restaurants by the beach were disgusting so take the shuttle to the buffet istead.

Perfect beaches, friendly staff, great food

I stayed at Melia for 5 days over spring break in late March. Right from the beginning, the service was exceptional; probably the best I've ever experienced. The receptionist checking us in called in pina coladas for us to enjoy while we were waiting to get our rooms. As we had dinner, our bags were delivered to our rooms. The service continued throughout the trip. People were always smiling, saying "Hola!" to us, and doing everything they could to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The wait staff at the buffets and restaurants was very friendly and quick to fill our drinks once they were empty. The beach was also amazing. the sand was soft and pristine, and the water was clear. There were a couple of bars not too far away from the beach, so drinks were always easy to get on the beach. We even saw some fish snorkeling in the shallow water. Be aware that on the beach, salesmen will try to get you to sign up for excursions with them. They are a bit pushy, but are still quite friendly. We didn't sign up for any of these, so I can't say whether they are worth it. The rooms aren't anything special. They were perfectly serviceable, but they were quite plain and could have used more decoration to make the room brighter. The shower would also fluctuate between very hot and very cold water, but that might just have been our room. All in all, the resort was great. The beach is amazing, the staff can communicate in English and is very friendly, and the food is great for being an all-inclusive deal. Make sure to make reservations for the a-la-carte restaurants early. We had a great time and would like to go again.

Great Girls Trip!

Melia Tropical is a great resort to relax and enjoy Punta Cana. It is near the shopping mall and other local spots to hangout and have fun. Even though checkout was a little unorganized, my friends and I really had a great time there.

Beautiful and relaxing

Very beautiful, and relaxing. Lots of activities. Truly all-inclusive, from food to alcohol to activities. We never even left the compound! A very large place, so I appreciated the "train" that took us around regularly. Couldn't ask for a better beach to walk out on!

Punta Cana Vacation

I was in Punta Cana for six days and I enjoyed myself completely. The hotel was beautiful and clean. Everyone was very nice and attentive. The staff was my favorite part of my trip. They made our stay very exciting and cheerful. At Melia, we thank staff members [...]. They always made sure that we were enjoying ourselves and even recommended many things we could do like the scuba diving and parasailing too. Over all the experience was wonderful and I would go again in a heart beat.

Entertainment tip: Long walk from hotel

There are many places to enjoy the night. Just make sure to takes cab from the hotel. Although, outside the resort is very safe, the walk to any clubs and bars is alittle far. It's much more convenient to grab a cab and pay $15.00. Also, you can always ask the staff for recommendations to where to party. They're always happy to help.
