Majestic Colonial Punta Cana - All Inclusive

The hotel is nice. The staff seemed a bit lazy at times. Went on the ATV excursion, and did not enjoy as we drove on the paved road 80% of the time.

The hotel was beautiful. The rooms and the resort were very very nice. The beds and pillows were behond hard. The food was horrible, food was cold all the time. The food looked and tasted like Golden Corral. We were very dissapointed. No activities after 10pm. The night club was always empty because they played really bad hip hop music. I was expecting spanish music. All the staff were very nice and courteous. This hotel was not a 4 star hotel.

First trip to Dominican -- have vacationed at other English speaking islands in Caribbean. Nice hotel overall. Beaches and pool very nice. Dining ok, but definitely barely 4 star worthy, and not at all if you exclude the reservation-only restaurants. Major issues checking in - only hotel I've ever visited where simply your ID won't get you into your room, but need your confirmation E-MAIL from booking site (Orbitz). Nightlife fair, seems as though they do their best to balance between families/singles/couples, and nothing stands our accordingly.

The hotel was great, the staff was very friendly, and the food was delicious...I love their special drink...the MAJESTIC

The resort was a very nice one overall

I have mixed reviews about this place. Goods & Bads. More goods than bads though. This was my second trip to Punta Cana and I stayed at a different resort the previous time (Paradisus Palma Real). This time my husband and I came with ~20 other people for a destination wedding at the resort. It was a great wedding and overall we had a great time. The goods: -Beautiful location, beautiful resort, pool was amazing, beach was nice (be careful of the coral if you go too far out) -Nice & clean rooms - the staff was very nice (but most did not speak english) - the beds were very hard though - Nightly entertainment was very good - there was always things to keep you busy and was very impressed by the beach party/bonfire, some of the shows were good too - Definitely recommend doing the photography session - lots of fun and the pictures are amazing The bads: - Service was sub-par - we had many mix up's with our rooms and had to have it switched 2 times, since one you could hear people in the adjacent room and the other was not clean. We had some problems with details regarding the wedding - but overall the wedding ceremony and reception went very well - but just some details that would have made things go more smoothly - Food was average - the absolute best food was at the French restaurant and we were unable to make reservations at the Japanese (They were booked out 4 days in advance). The other restaurants and buffets were okay, lots of variety but disappointed overall in the quality. - Deep sea fishing - expensive, only caught one fish (average size) and majority of the boat got sea sick (even though most of us never had this happen on a boat before) - It could be the season for bad fishing or something though and very rough waters - Not many "extras" included - had to pay for most extra activities during the day, room service was not included with the cheaper rooms, only one type of wine was free (had to pay extra for better liquour - and it is expensive!) Overall - I was happy with the resort, especially for the price. It worked out well for our big group since the resort was big enough for us to have privacy but also have dinner and spend time together as a group as well. Lots of variety of things to do! There was lots of kids and families at the resort as well. As I stated before I stayed at the Paradisus Palma Real 3 years previously and enjoyed that resort more for the purposes of a honeymoon (not as a large group) - it is more of a relaxing atmosphere, better service, better food and more extra's included but the night life was not as extensive as this resort and not as large. If I was to go to Punta Cana again - I probably would try another resort and not return to this one but we did enjoy the time we spent here.

The Beaches where the best part! The pool was the next best thing as it's huge! That said, stay at another hotel. The service was the worst part of this hotel!!! (Long waits at dinner, rude managers, unaccommodating service) The staff was not very friendly; nor, did they smile very often. They seemed to be over worked. Bring your own mattress! Seriously, if you want to sleep or enjoy yourself you'll want to bring an inflatable mattress. I was better of sleeping on the tile floor as the bed was a wooden boxed frame w/ sheets on it. Sleepless nights… Not fun! Enjoy breakfast! After breakfast good luck! The food was not good at all. I would recommend bringing your own food or eating outside the hotel every day. Also, bring pants/jeans to this hot place b/c they will not allow you to eat at most of their restaurants unless you're sweating your butt off in a pair of pants/jeans. They will not allow you to eat both seafood & steak at dinner? What kind of all inclusive resort sets rules on what you can & can't eat? In addition, I found rotten food on both the lunch & dinner buffets. It's no wonder I was making trips to the bathroom all week. :-( They pour lower grade liquor into their premium bottles nightly. Moreover, most bars don't have a selection of premium liquor. They only have 1-2 types of cheap liquor. Also, don't drink the water or have ice in your drinks; otherwise, you'll spend more time in the bathroom. What resort has towel cards… are you kidding me? $30 if you lose your towel or card! Go outside the resort to Bavaro Plaza for shopping… you'll get anything at 1/16th the cost of the Hotel Merchandise. Don't take any excursion offered by CoCo Tours. They over charge you after the fact & then you will need to dispute through your credit card company! Also, they'll pull the bait & switch on you! Stay far away from these snakes!

We checked in the Majestic Colonial and were quickly told we were upgraded to the sister property, the Majestic Elegance. We had a very nice room overlooking the beautiful pool. The room had a balcony and an in-room jacuzzi. The bed and pillows were not the best but were OK. The resort is an all-inclusive. Food is plentiful and alright...nothing spectacular but not bad. The service from staff is helpful and friendly and the various bars made great drinks. We stayed on the property and enjoyed the beach and pool. I would go again.

I spent a week vacation at the Majestic Elegance in Punta Cana and at the end of the week I went to a friend's wedding. My plane was diverted to Santa Doningo when I arrived and I took a four-hour bus ride to Punta Cana, so when I arrived at the Majestic at 2am I surprised to see how friendly the staff was, even at that early hour. The beach was beautiful and very relaxing. The staff were wonderful-very friendly and attentive. Unfortunately I did not have towels in my room for the first two days, which was the only negative experience. They always stocked my mini-fridge with plenty of bottled water, which I really appreciated. I easily got ground transportation back to the airport when I left in the early morning. I have never stayed at an all-inclusive resort, but I did enjoy my time at the Majestic. I wish I had more time to explore more of the country.

the place was beautiful. food was great. people were friendly and helpful. they even had catholic mass in a private chapel on the property. now, how all-inclusive was that!! traveler tips: speak some spanish, bring all toiletries and sundries. the minimart on property was too expensive. prepare to shower twice a day due to activities. bring extra money for side trips to the country side. in the summer, bring wide brim hat and portable battery fan with mist. take lots and lots of pictures!!
