Luxury Bahia Principe Esmeralda Don Pablo Collection- All Inclusive

The actual resort itself is gorgeous and very well maintained. The beach is amazingly located and the pool areas are plentiful and very clean. It is worth the extra money to stay at Esmeralda as it is closer to the beach and has smaller, quieter pool areas. Also enjoyed the multi-cultural guests, as there was a wide variety of nationalities represented. Things that we thought could have been improved upon were the food (although there was a very wide selection, it was very sub-standard in quality), the wi-fi quality (spotty at best in the public places and even though we paid for access in the room we were unable to access it consistently). Language barrier for english only individuals is challenging to overcome. Main advice to anyone planning to go is take PLENTY of US Dollars as there is only one ATM location on the entire resort (which only dispensed pesos) and most places (including checking out at the front desk) didn't accept credit cards.

The staff was fabulous we had done the honeymoon special offered by O however there seemed to be a miscommunication between O and the hotel I don't know who was at fault.... but I was ver unhappy when I arrived however the manager of the butler services made sure everything was up to par with my expectations and quickly made arrangements to have our room moved. Food was great.. deff go to the don pablo restaurant...staff was great...beach was great...no complaints... :)

I stayed at the hotel the week of Oct 5th and it was amazing. I have traveled to many all-inclusive places and this ranks pretty high on the scale. The Esmeralda is the complete package, rooms, beach, food and SERVICE!. Make sure you stay in buildings 90 and 91- The shuttle doesn't run as often as you would like and the a la carte restaurants book up pretty quickly. Book everything beforehand.

Cant say enough about the staff , very friendly and acomidating. The only negative of the whole resort is the bed was very firm, and AC in room OT as strong as I like. But that is being very picky! With that being said, I would not let that stop me from returning! Great place and great scenery!

The entire experience from beginning to end was amazing. Believe all of the good reviews about this place. I can't wait to go again. I have absolutely nothin bad to say about this place!

The staff people at this hotel were fabulous ... very warm and friendly. However, the amenities and food are mediocre. Definitely needs better access to Internet ... WiFi is sketchy.

To start off the O "All inclusive package" Does Not include a shuttle or any kind of transportation from hotel to resort. Hotel , good food. Bars open at 10 am so no stuff for coffee. Alot of workers hiding behind something and texting all day long. Seems there not as poor as we thought. Will NEVER book with O again. Cost $38 dollers each way for a taxi.

This wasn't the vacation I thought it would be. It was very boring. All there was to do was go in the pool or the ocean. There were no activities and if there were our group never found them. Compared to other vacations, there was always something going on in the pools or on the beach but here there was nothing anywhere. The food was good and the rooms were clean but some from our group were greeted with fruit baskets and liquoer and we got nothing so what was that all about? I wouldn't recommend it seeing I've been to much nicer and more active and fun resorts. Sorry!

The resort exceeded my expectations! You didnt have to leave all week to have an amazing trip! We relaxed by the pool and beach which were a few short steps from our room. The lobby, pool, hallways, everything was very clean and you can tell they take pride in their cleanliness. All of the staff were very friendly, helpful and always had a smile on their face! We loved the food at the buffets and had a different, exciting experience at each dinner reservation. I would definitely visit again and would recommend any of the Gran Bahia Principe hotels.

Our visit to GBP Esmeralda was exactly as we hoped it would be - the grounds were beautiful, the staff was friendly, the location was perfect, and the room was lovely. We saw other resorts in the area when we picked up people on the tour bus and I thought the Gran Bahia was the most beautiful! Our small complaint is the buffet food wasn't great - it was ok, but could have been much better. The a la cart restaurants were good, and I HIGHLY recommend Don Pablo - it was the best restaurant! We got masages at the spa but wouldn't do it again - they were expensive and not the best. We also did the Zipline tour with Canopy Tours and it was lots of fun! Tips: 1. Book the shuttle from the airport when you make your hotel reservation, its very confusing otherwise and if you have to take a cab they may overcharge (our cab ride there was 38 dollars and the concierge later informed us it shouldn't have been more than 30). 2. Bring some dollar bills for tipping the guys at the airport and the staff who carries your luggage up to your room. 3. Make sure you print your hotel confirmation and bring it with you, they ask for it when you check in 4. Make sure to talk to guest services early on in your visit - they can help you make restaurant reservations and they are a great resource for any of your questions!
