Very enjoyable stay

Room was on first floor and was clean. There was king size bed and roll out bed. Both were comfortable with clean linens. Other amenities included mini bar, coffee maker, safe, iron with board. Bathroom had regular size bathtub. Air conditioner is always on and I could not find way to control it. There is fan in the room also but for us air conditioner was enough. Sound isolation was very good, we have never been disturbed by other guests. There are several open air and air conditioned restaurants (note that residents can use Iberostar Dominicana hotel's restaurants as well). We frequented Hispaniola buffet, food and service were very good. Sybila and Pagoda air conditioned restaurants were also very good. Beach is close to hotel, pool also. I had long walks along the shore and think this hotel and Iberostar Dominicana (they share beach) have one of the best beaches around. Nice sand shore, warm and clean water, few reefs some way from the shore (with fish, good for snorkeling), distance from shore till buoys line is enough to swim normally (more than 50 yards away). Keep an eye on children - waves can be strong and sweep them off their feet. Some other places nearby had rocks on the bottom, lots of seaweed, steep slope of bottom with buoy line close to shore, may be in 15 yards (you can swim only very close to shore). Pool was clean with warm water. Pool's bottom has gentle slope, so children of any height can enter and find comfortable place to play without you keeping them on hands all time. Many people of the hotel staff speak English, but if you speak Spanish your stay will be even more comfortable.

Entertainment tip: Short walk from hotel

Hotel provides complimentary hour of water sport activities each day from their beach. Reservation for catamaran is required. Riding along the beach is wonderful experience, but be cautious if you have not sailed before. Hotel will let you out in the sea even if you see catamaran the first time (you sign hotel liability waiver). Few advices: - Do yourself a favor - either find someone with sailing experience to teach you or take lesson that hotel provides for a fee (~ US $40). This might just save you and your passengers from getting in trouble far from shore. - try to make reservation for morning. Sea and wind are usually quieter then and may get rough later. - Reefs are quite close to shore. Do not go there, especially to wave breaking line above them (you'll see it by white foam, about 200 yards from shore). Reefs are very close to water surface there, wave can throw you right into them. Watch hotel motor boats and stay close to their path. Usually it is close to beach buoy line. - Watch out for motor boats and parasail. Be predictable and try staying away from both.

Fantastic one year anniversary vacation

Iberostar Punta Cana resort was a good choice for a one year anniversary. The room was huge, the airconditiooning was running all day with no problems. The staff were friendly, smiling all the time, very helpful. everything was right there, teh swimming pool, the ping pong table, beach volley ball, the gym was also available. there was a variety of food, and the food was available almost all day, drinks were available. overall, it was a perfect destination for somebody who wants to enjoy his vacation.

Family Getaway

Overall, it was a good experience. Staff was friendly, rooms were clean and the hotel was on the beach so no need to take a shuttle like at some other larger hotels. Food was okay. Buffets had plenty of food to choose from. A little hard to communicate with some of the staff since Spanish is the primary language, but not a big deal. The hotel was a good value for all that was included.

Sightseeing tip: Not Applicable

We did 2 snorkeling excursions. One was the marinarium. Very expensive ($100 pp) and touristy. It was about 3 hours and included snorkeling, swimming with sharks and stingrays and a lot of time on the boat with adults drinking. The second was a snorkeling excursion from our hotel. It was about 2 hours and included snorkeling and sailing around a shipwreck. This was $36 pp. I would skip the marinarium unless the sharks and stingrays are a must. Find out what is available right at your hotel before booking the excursions.

Iberostar-Punta Cana

Staff are great. Ameneties need to be improve. Security is ok. Bad smell (kithen smell ) when going to iberostar dominican from iberostar punta cana using the front lobby. Night shows need to improve and hire more performers. Mildew everywhere in the buildings (sidewalls, ceiling). Foods are if not salty they are over cooked. waiters and waitresses are fantastics. When arriving at punta cana airport, beware, people will approached you pretending as your pick up but they are not. They work for another company selling or offering different stuff. Departing at punta cana, be there early because the departure is a riot. Good experience on survival.

Great beach

Especially liked the availabiliy of plenty of shade on the beach and around the pool. Very nice layout to resort so no one area ever felt crowded. Very friendly staff. Food and nighly show were above average but not exceptional. Except for our room and 3 of the "dinner only" restaurants, everything else was open-air design rather than air-conditioned. It took about two days to get acclimated to being in the heat for most of the day. (Didn't realize how spoiled we are with our AC.)

Great time

Ive been to a few places here with my family and stayed at top of the line resorts. This isnt the nicest place on the island, but we had a wonderful time. The food was great, the staff was very friendly, and my boyfriend LOVED the golf course. He golfed two days, but got rained on one. They gave him a rain check for that day, but the next day was our last day and he wanted to enjoy it on the beach. We asked if we could switch the rain check for an hour lesson with the golf pro, and they had no problem accommodating us. We were sad to leave!
