We all loved it!

We had a lot of fun throughout our stay. The entire hotel was always very clean, all of the staff were always super friendly. There was always something to do for everyone. The only complaint we had was the reservation system, they only allot you two or three nights at the a la carte restaurants and all of the ones we wanted were booked throughout our entire stay. It was by far the funnest resort we've been to. The beach is the cleanest of any hotel we've ever stayed at. The food is only okay, there was the same selection every day, but the drinks were the best.

Learn their bus route, the hotel is huge. But their buses run so frequently that it makes the distance insignificant.

Amazing Hotel!!!!

This was an amazing hotel. Not quiet and boring like some other guests may be looking for. Honestly, its a fun, upbeat and dazzline place. Great food, great staff and A+ entertainment. You have to do the free water sports, catamaroon, and boogie boarding, did I mention they were free? Also take an excursion to see the country like Santo Domingo, or the snorkling excursion. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere and its worth it to see the country.

Bahia Principe is tops in Punta Cana

My friends and I decided on this trip last minute because of the price but the four of us couldn't have been more pleased. The Gran Bahia Principe Resort is almost a small town in and of itself with four separate smaller resorts in one. We were booked in the Main resort area (Bavaro) but were moved to the brand new part (Esmerelda) for no extra charge. Gotta love it. The place was gorgeous, the staff was incredibly friendly, the food was awesome, and the service was impeccable. Only complaint that I have is that I had to get a new keycard a couple times because it wouldn't swipe properly - no big deal. I would recommend this resort experience to anyone and everyone.

Lovely DR ...

[...] I decided to visit the resort without opinion. Overall I thought it was a great value for a very relaxing mom-daughter getaway. Based on my weeklong experience at the hotel, below are a few hints/comments that hopefully will be helpful to the next traveler thinking about Grand Principe Bavaro:- )1) If you are not a Spanish speaker, learn at least a few words and phrases in Spanish. It helps around the resort.2) Learn the trolley-shuttle system ... even if you enjoy walking. The property is much too big to manuever without it.3) Bring insect repellent for you (for the obvious reasons) AND bug spray for the room. There are going to be at least a few creepy crawlers (mostly large ants, etc.) that make their way into your room. Some appear because of the openness of the room and access via the balcony ... but the rest are there because I believe the hotel needs to step up their game just a bit (if you know what I mean). The other 4 and 5 star hotels in DR do not seem to have a bugs-in-the-room problem. 4) Keep your wash/face towels (ie do not ask for new ones the next day) if you rely on them to bathe! For some odd reason it is VERY hard to get wash/face towels on a regular basis.5) The staff do not do a very good job of explaining the property's many amenities (or guidelines/policies for that matter)... specifically to the non-advanced Spanish speakers (I relied on high school Spanish to get by). Once you get to your room (hopefully with a drink :-), make sure that you read all printed materials that are handed to you and sitting around in the room so that you understand the rules as well as the opportunites. It took my mother and I two days to find out about the towel policy. And last, do not let the bad reviews scare you away from the Grand Principe Bavaro. It is not even a 1/10th as bad as people claim. The staff are friendly, the food is certainly worth the $$, and everyone just seems to genuinely be having a good time.I would recommend this hotel if this is your first time in DR, if you are traveling with family, if you are participating in a girlfriends (or mom--daughter) getaway, or if you want to bring small children on the trip with you. I would stay away if honeymooning or if you require a lot of quiet/down time ... try Grand Prinicipe Ambar instead (within the same complex).P.S. Just an FYI ... we stayed in the Club Hacienda portion of the hotel, which apparently has a few enhanced services.

Dream Vacation!!!

This is a dream resort. Its location is great. 3-4 pools all around the place so your always close to fun. Most beautiful beaches and clear water i have ever seen in my life. Staff is very friendly and you never run out of food/drinks. Buffet style restaurants are nice for everyday dinning with plenty of food options. 3 restaurants that we choose were very romantic atmospheric and good food. Hotel has tons of free activities that are not mentioned by the stuff but you can find out on your own ( scuba diving, games at the pool and beach). Outside of the resort activities are great addition to relaxing trip ( we did boogies and para sailing). Both extremely fun and exciting events. Highly recommended resort !!!!

Big Resort-Great pool n Beach

It was a great resort. Very Big, but they had trollies that came very often to take you to other locations. The alacart restarants were great for the most part. The Japanese and steak house were great. The Italian was bad. Great pool with poolside bar. The beach was great too. You have to go early to reserve a spot in some shade though. They have entertainment on the beach and the pool. The nightime enertainment was great too.

Wonderful All Inclusive!

We had a wonderful stay here - one of the best All Inclusive Resorts we've been to! This is the perfect hotel if you are looking to just relax and stay at the resort. They had a beautiful beach and three different pool areas, so each day you felt like you were at a new resort. The resort is enormous, which some people find overwhelming, but we really enjoyed walking the perfectly manicured paths and finding new restaurants, shops, bars, and activities each day. We don't like to visit the same place twice, but I would definitely make an exception to that rule for this hotel. I can't wait to go back!

You get a fixed number of reservations at the "sit-down" restaurants. However, one night we wandered to the BBQ restaurant, not knowing it was reservations only. They said "No problem!" and sat us anyway, so we got an extra "sit-down" meal at no charge!
