Royal time at Catalonia Royal
Parasailing boat was broken at the time but there were many other water activities available. Lots to do, great to have access to the other hotel.

the good and the bad
WE always had plenty to eat and drink The staff always frendly but only a few spoke english. the excursion were not very good We had more fun golfing and biking There are alot better places to go . Do not use coco tours as your suttle service they stiffed us on our way back to the airport and we had to take a taxi it cost us aextra $30 dollers

***** Only for Adults LOVED IT
The experience was amazing....Service was great, the pool is awasome and the rooms are very modern and beautiful. Since it is a hotel for adults only, it was very relax and at the same time fun.

Great vacation
The trip was great overall with no complaints. The majority of the time was spent sitting by the pool relaxing as was the plan

Fun in the Sun
Great Resort.When we got there before check in time,we were told to go have lunch & drinks while they got our room ready.(they held our baggage in a locked closet).The adult side was worth the extra $.Plenty of beach chairs, no waiting for dinner or drinks. The beach was combed several times a day.We got the least expensive room and it was beautiful. Marbel bathroom,circular tub,king bed,livingroom & balconie w/hammock.People were friendly & helpful.When we checked out since our shuttle didn't come for 5 hrs,we were able to put our luggage in closet & continue to use pool & restaurants,bars. They even offered a shower.They even had lobster on several of the dinner menus.We could have had it every nite if we wanted.

In Hotel
Take extra sun screen. The hotel sells it but it was $20 bottle. Also the hotel doesn't give lotion in their amenities so take some. And it is also expensive in the shops.

Relaxed and Rejuvenated
This hotel is so totally relaxing. The Royal side of the Catalonia lets you escape the hoopla and just chill out at the beautiful infinity pool and the beach. There were always lots of free chairs, and lots of space, yet you were also free to enjoy all the facilities and dining and shows etc. at the regular Catalonia, which was only a short walk away. It was great, and soooooo relaxing. Truly a paradise.

In Hotel
For a quick, light lunch, stroll over to the regular Catalonia and try the wonderful pizza at the snack-bar by the pool. We did this almost everyday, rather than have a sit-down lunch. One other tip - bring an english/spanish dictionary, as there is limited English spoken here.

Very relaxing on the adults side!
Overall we really liked the resort. The food was pretty good, but not exquisite. In the Japanese restaurant they really tried hard, but the food was far from authentic. The restaurants on the adults side were better. If you can, definitely pay for the adults only side if you want peace. The beach is quite, there are awesome pools and literally no one bothers you. The staff in general were descent, but they aren't personable necessarily.

Great Beach/Pool Getaway
The staff was extremely friendly. Basic Spanish is helpful, but the staff will work to understand you. The room was always cleaned, but the things that were provided were a little hit or miss, (Towels, floor mats, etc.) It might have been because it was off season, but everything was included--all food, all alcohol, everything. It was a beautiful location, especially good for beach/pool people. I would recommend for couples, friends, or singles who are looking to relax and not have to worry about anything. An amazing experience. I can't wait to go back. Transportation with Coco Tours was inconsistent. My plane was re-routed to Santo Domingo and I tried to contact Coco Tours to change my arrival time pick up. They hung up on me twice. Luckily, the airline wound up providing transportation directly to the hotel, so it wasn't an issue. And, I did not have any issues getting back to the airport for my return flight.

Much better than the pictures!
The staff was super friendly & accommodating. The hotel room was unbelievably big & much more high end than I thought from the pictures.

Have it all, except the crowds
Royal side is the best. Exceptional first class service, great beach, pool, bars, restaurant. The best is at no time was there more than 30 people around you. You can enjoy all the amenities of the larger Catolina Bravaro next door but still escape to your uncrowded oaisis on the Royal side.

I would arrange my own transfer next time rather than use the one offered by Orbitz. I find it ridicualus that the only way to get your transfer back to the airport is to meet up with a representative during your stay. At that time they then try to sell you other tours.
