Beautiful grounds HORRIBLE service.

The grounds are beautiful. They got us upgraded to a honey moon suite with privlidged status. That was supposed to get us our beach towels to the room and preferential treatment. HA! We got nothing and if you want your room cleaned or refrigerator refilled you have to call. We had a broken DVD player that took 5 days to fix. The maid broke a toy that my daughter won at one of their nightly shows. The anamacion team on the other hand was awesome and tried to make up for the hotels short comings but it was the last straw when the photographers tried to hustle us. They told us they would discount the photos if we bought a bunch, obviously 74 of them was not enough because they offered the same price per picture to everyone. When we complained we were told they could not do anything as they are an outside company! I am tired of complaining and if you want a relaxing trip stay away from here!

A bit disappointed

The beach at this resort was, by far, one of the nicest beaches my husband and I have experienced, beating out places like Cabo San Lucas and Cancun. The pool was enjoyable as well, as it was large and refreshing (although, we didn't venture too far from the pool bar). The grounds were well-maintained, but each day, there was a horrible manure-like smell that permeated the air. The smell either originated from the water that was used to water the grass and associated plants or from the soil. Either way, it made me gag. The entertainment staff worked hard to keep their guests entertained. That said, there were activities going on around the clock, from water aerobics to volleyball to salsa dancing. By the fifth day, the music they played over and over again got rather annoying, as there was no variety of songs. They also put on shows at night, which were hit or miss. Despite the beautiful beach, large pool and daily/nightly entertainment, the resort did not live up to the "four star" rating. In fact, I would rate it a 2 1/2 at best. The food was absolutely horrible, leaving all 8 of us sick. The sanitation procedures at the resort are non-existent; the chefs do not wear gloves, raw meat bakes in the heat as it is waiting to be cooked, and there are a bunch of flies and birds around the cooking/eating areas. It is no wonder we all experienced the Dominican version of "Montezuma's Revenge." The most appetizing food was the pizza and french fries that were offered at the snack bar. We typically look forward to the dining options available when travelling, but this time, our stomachs couldn't handle anything outside of the "safe" options. Furthermore, in addition to the food, the drinks were terrible. The alcohol used to mix the drinks was bottom shelf (and I would venture guess that it was the bottom of the bottom shelf). Very little to no top shelf liquors were available, so if you enjoy your Grey Goose, Bacardi or Patron, your best bet is to go somewhere else or bring it along in your suitcase to spike your own drinks. Otherwise, you will be very disappointed and sober for the entire trip.

The food will make you sick. Stick to the "safe" choices, such as dry toast, pizza with no toppings and french fries. If that doesn't interest you, then I highly recommend spending a few more bucks to go to a nicer, more upscale resort.

Loved it!

This vacation was simply for relaxation and that is what we did. When we got to the hotel we got upgraded to "priviledged" they said it was because of us using [...]. This meant 24 hour room service, special areas, a pillow menu and so much more. We had read ad reveiws about the restaurants before we went so we were worried - we ate at all of them except the Japenese (not a fan of sushi) and they were all amazing. We even went back to the American restuarant because the steak was so good. The buffets were so-so but that's what you expect from buffets. All the staff was really nice and if they didn't speak English that well they would get another staff member that could. The pool and beach were kept spotless - in fact the whole resort was. My boyfriend and I would go back in a heartbeat.

Beautiful Resort But,,

What a beautiful place to visit. Resort was very clean and the staff were so friendly. Food was great, but found the wine to be not very nice. The only big complaint was that people were allowed to party at the pool all night. On our last night (Sat), people partied until 6 am in the morning. They were very loud, singing/yelling. What a terriable way to spend your last night.

A beautiful, fun and relaxing resort

x The beaches were beautiful, the food was really good and the entertainment was awesome. We had great weather the whole 10 days. We only took one excursion, which was ok, but not the best. But there were many more to choose from and our tour guide from Coco Tours was great to work with. The staff was very energetic and got people involved with the aerobics, crazy games, water polo, contests, etc. The rooms were cleaned very good, and they kept the frig stocked with beer, water and pop. There were 4 different restaurants besides the big buffet places, Japanese, Italian, Steak and Mexican and all were very good. The grounds were beautiful, very clean, and lots of foliage and flowers.
