Great Vacation, Love Punta Cana
We were at the Bavaro Princess May 10-15. Overall we had a really good time and would stay there again. The staff is friendly and the resort grounds are beautiful. We upgraded to Platinum and enjoyed those added amenities. The only negative is that even though they advertise several restaurants, only 2 (besides the buffett) are open each night. The food was good and we really enjoyed our meal at the specialty restaurant Lichey. The resort is huge but there was always a trolly coming around to take us where we wanted to go.

Well Traveled Travelers
February 2012 Stay
We have been to the Dominican several times and stayed throughout the Caribbean in many all-inclusives (several chains). This was our first time in a Princess resort. The Princess All Suites Resort was just so-so, nothing to write home about. The resort was severely understaffed, especially at breakfast. They had only 1-2 people working the buffet dining room clearing, setting places and pouring coffee. Although we didn’t have to wait long, service wasn’t like other all-inclusives where personnel are there every time you turn around. All buffets seemed a bit limited in choice selection, especially at breakfast. Again, this is in comparison to other all-inclusive experiences. For example, they only had one omelet chef and only very basic breakfast foods. In our other experiences, we had over 50+ items to choose from. Beach drink service was nonexistent. Specialty restaurants were hit or miss. We had a terrible experience at the seafood restaurant, El Pescador. Service was extremely slow, and the lobster was very overcooked. After 2.25 hours we left and skipped dessert. The service was better at Il Boco and El Gaucho. We told the wait staff that we would eat the food as fast as they could bring it and were out in 45 minutes. The grounds were nice, but not pristine. The ecological area was actually littered with plastic bottles, cups and wrappers which made me sad. Daily maintenance was being done but the grounds weren’t immaculate like other resorts. The VIP area had limited Internet access (two computers) but the wait staff in the lounge was very good. The VIP area on the beach was very small and we didn’t even bother getting chairs there. Check in and out was very efficient and we were brought immediately to our room upon arrival, 3 p.m. A word to the wise. The Dominican International Airport is a cluster! They have 4 self-serve kiosks for 2,000+ departing Saturday passengers. If you can check in and print your boarding passes at your resort, DO IT! It will save valuable time. You’ll wait in long lines on peak departure days as there are only 4 (sometimes 5) x-ray, security lines. Both terminals merge into one security point. We did visit their sister resorts just down the beach, which seemed to be a bit newer but food quality was the same. The beach again is the main drawing point. The resort was clean but nothing special. As we have been told many times, the staff working in the resorts of the Caribbean work for very little. A small tip of $1-2 at breakfast and lunch, and $4-5 tip at dinner can make a staff member’s week. The room attendants work extremely hard and long hours (if you have ever watched). Again, a kind gesture of tipping goes a long way.

"Mother-daughter escape"
The check-in was a breeze. We had booked a shuttle from the airport ahead of time and the ride was 25 minutes to hotel. Bellhops were waiting as we pulled up to get our luggage. After checking in through Daniel at the reception desk, we were taken by a tram to our ocean view room 292. Close enough yet set back from the road where tram goes. It is a short tram ride from the check in area (lobby ).The resort is absolutely beautiful with lush tropical plants, palms and flowers surrounding every villa. Walked the ecological trail within grounds. Cannot wait to return! Beach is best!

The nightly animation team is great. The shows were well choreographed. Dancers were talented and singers were very entertaining. The Saturday Night Fever night was a blast!. 70'S MUSIC!! Dance stage is there when animation team gets you up and dancing. Circus was ok. Games with guests are hilarious.

Very Good All-Inclusive
Overall, very good. Compared to other similar places, this one was bigger - which means more people at the breakfast buffet and restaurants (so get to both earlier than later). The greater distances, e.g., from the lobby or rooms to the beach, restaurants was mitigated by the frequent motorized transportation around the site. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Location was convenient to the Punta Cana airport. I rate it better than one similar resort I have been to here, but not as good as one other I visited in Sept. Overall, the DR is an excellent choice and value destination, with many venues from which to choose.

Of the restaurants available onsite, I would recommend the Japanese Teppanyaki (though no sake was available) and the seafood restaurant above the others. Overall, the food was good, but not great.

relaxing getaway
we just returned, and cannot say enough about the lovely Bavaro Princess,. The grounds were beautiful and the staff always helpful The language barrier was frustrating at times, but we should have brushed up on our Spanish before the trip. We upgraded to the Platinum level which got us closer to the beach and top shelf liquor. The beach was just beautiful. Snorkeling wasnt so great, not the variety of fish we had hoped for. Overall, a lovely week in a lovely resort. We would go again!
